It is not our intention to impose our filmmaking on a difficult situation, we shoot with a minimal set up and can arrange multiple sessions if needed.

I posted earlier about a documentary that I decided to do- it is a documentary video about religion and the religious opinions and experiences of people.

I created a short video to introduce it that I hope to use to spread the word and invite feedback, suggestions and participation.

I know that this subject is not for everyone, that some may disagree with it, or just not be interested in it. But if you consider yourself religious, I am interested in what you think of it, how I can make it better, what I should include or not include and so forth.

If you would be interested in telling your story on camera, let me know. I also want to interview couples, how a religious basis affects your relationship and the importance of faith in your family.

Also, I could use your help. I would prefer to find participants through word of mouth rather than marketing, so If you know someone you think would be interested in this, pass this email along to them. If you have a relationship with a pastor, priest or other religious leader, please consider telling them about this.

I want to get as many people interviewed as I can, all types of people in all types of religions, so please help me spread the word if you can.

I've been doing a lot with AI lately. It can be a great thing, with its pitfalls and dangers, and it is only going to become a bigger part of our lives. As an aside, I use it for brainstorming, research, rounding out ideas, I do not use it to write my emails, I find that I am a much better writer than it.

Our grandchildren will know a world which we won't- a world of fake images, manufactured reality and machine created media (I did say it can be a great thing). They will live in a world where pleasure, information and connections will be derived far more from virtual reality than from human generated reality.

So, record a video, archive the happenstances of your live and the thoughts and ideas you have about it so that they have a record of how people existed before AI.

By doing this, you will give them a virtual connection to you, so that you will be part of what they know and understand, and they may have a better appreciation for real (offline, human created) life.

🕰 I'm In The Memory Business

What is a memory? A mental image picture of an earlier time. Where they are located, why they exist, who knows, but they definitely exist, and everyone has them.

And, you know, it's a funny thing that we know they are there but they are only accessible via communication, written or verbal, by the one who holds them. So, if you want to know the stories of someone, you will have to ask them to tell you.

And that is what I do.

Are you excited about your religion? I am a videographer based in the Sacramento area. working on a new video documenting the views of religious people. I wish to do an in-person video interview with people of all different religions and sects.

I am looking for people who are excited about their religion and wish to tell me why their religion is great and why they love being part of it. I would like people who found their religion later in life as well as those born into it. I will treat all people and viewpoints with respect and tolerance, the purpose of this project is to celebrate and educate about all religions.

If you are a member of a church- Christian, Jewish, Buddhism, Muslim, Taoism, Hindu, Mormon, Greek Orthodox, Scientology, Baha’I, Shikhism, Unification, Zoroastrianism, Shinto, or any other- as well as any of the numerous branches, sects and denominations of each, I would like to do a short (less than 30 minute) in-person interview with you talking about your beliefs. It is important to me that I get representatives from all beliefs, so if you are a member of a smaller religion, I definitely wish to talk to you.

I'm working on my new documentary, I was up late last night and early this morning planning it, researching it (ChatGPT is a great resource if you don't know). This thing is getting big in my head and I want it to be big. I'm excited.

I need help with it. Making a documentary takes resources. I'm thinking of how to cut this to the bone (I may call on some of you to sleep on your couch at some point) but it still takes money.

I want to hold off on revealing exactly what this video is, but for me it IS about furthering the cause of humanity, taking a shot at the nihilism and dispair and possibly giving some hope.

I have rewards for your help. Mostly I can use my talents as an interviewer to give you a chance to experience the joy and fun of sharing your story on a recorded video for all time.

I have a new video project that I am very excited about. This has been stewing for awhile, but last month I put it into action.

I ran a Facebook ad inviting people with interesting stories to visit me for an interview. I set up my video equipment in a hotel room and interviewed about 10 people, random people with different types of stories. I loved it, they enjoyed it and I saw what this could be.

My vision became bigger as I thought about it and I came up with the name, Brilliant Lights, the metaphor of each of us being a shining star of life. I decided that I would start this, creating documentaries of people and their journeys through life.

We know that if you want anger, distress, negativity, and degradation there is plenty of that to find on the internet. I do not want to go that way. I will include people who have led imperfect lives, but the story I want to tell is of triumph. I don't want to laud the struggle, I want to celebrate the victory.

The first documentary I wish to do will be a truly inspirational and celebratory film, showcasing the best of what we are.

I am subsidizing this effort with my paid services, but there are expenses involved with a project like this and I want to get this off the ground fast! So, I am running a kickstarter campaign to fund this first project.
