Last week I had the honor of showcasing my piece, Sunset in Paradise, at the Sixpence Art Series Gallery in Downtown Durham for the Durham Artist Archive Exhibit.

Last year I was featured on the Durham Artist Archive podcast by the AMAZING curator, artist, community builder, and all things amazing - Alyssa Cuffie Anuoha. Alyssa ( )and Nori McDuffie ( created the Sixpence Art Series. In addition to hosting this podcast that features Durham Artists, Alyssa also curates incredible art experiences for her communities. All of the art was incredible and the exhibit was so thoughtful. Thank you, Alyssa and Nori, for everything! And thank you to the amazing photographer Amaiya Sanders ( ) for these shots!

Community is everything. I spent so much of my early art career in a silo, in part by choice (introversion and imposter syndrome) and in part due to the pandemic. Over the past two years I have really challenged my introversion and imposter syndrome and made sure that I showed up to the events and met new people and opened myself up to collaboration and support and it has changed my entire career. I feel so much more whole, I have such supportive friends, I feel like my contributions matter, I recognize and value my worth, and I also learn so much from those around me.

Special shoutout to the amazing Rachel (Chello Design Co) who I have assisted in painting a few murals now and for Mary (Forage + Roam Design Co.)who I recently met and is another phenomenal creative. I love this community I am building and I highly encourage you to build yours. It makes things exponentially better.

In this video Iโ€™m assisting Rachel for one of her beautiful murals.
