When I bought my first DSLR a decade ago (a really old, heavy Canon 20D that was about $100), I only ever planned to shoot nature and landscapes. I've always loved the beauty of the outdoors, and I wanted to capture that. In fact, I was dead set against ever taking photos of people, and I wanted photography to purely be a hobby that involved the milky way, flowers, and maybe a few cool old buildings. How things have changedđŸ˜†

After one of my sessions a few weeks ago, I couldn't help but stay after for a bit and get some photos of the gorgeous coneflowers. They're my FAVORITE (I even have a tattoo of them), and a sure sign that we are in the heart of a Midwestern summer.

I saved and uploaded these as a phone wallpaper size, so please feel free to use them if you want to change up your phone wallpaper for awhile! I'll be soaking up the rest of this hot, humid, bright and colorful time of year while I can before cooler autumn days arrive.

If you do happen to use any of these, I'd love it if you share which your favorite is. I always find it interesting!

I look forward to seeing this family every year. Henry and Meredith always make me laugh, and it's been so neat to capture them growing up. We had the most PERFECT lighting and some gorgeous flowers, but I couldn't help but include entirely too many black and white images where their reactions stole the show.

Turning O N E is so much fun!

I really enjoyed shooting at Linen and Light in Eldridge for the first time. It's such a great studio, and almost all of the props are provided! Evalyn's family did bring some special blocks and rocking chair that have been in the family for a long time, and it was really neat getting to include those in the photos. Evalyn is the CUTEST, especially her red hair!
