The story behind the name Burken Photography 🤍
12 years ago, I lost my sister Taylor. During my senior year of high school, I started getting into photography, and she saw something in me before I believed in myself.
When I started my business, she helped me come up with the name Burken Photography, the first three letters of my last name and the first three letters of my first name.
Now, that name carries so much meaning.
I think part of the reason I love photography so much is because I know the value of having photographs and memories of someone you love. Photos become more than just images. They become a way to remember a laugh, a smile, a moment in time that we never want to forget.
That’s why I feel so honored every time someone trusts me to capture their story. I know how important these memories become, not just today, but years from now.
I often think about how proud my sister would be of where this journey has taken me. The weddings, the families, the couples, and all the moments I’ve been trusted to preserve. She has been a part of this from the very beginning.
So when someone asks me about my business name, I get to share a piece of her with them.
And every single time, it feels like a little hello from my sister. 🤍
