U.S. Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region

Sector Maryland-National Capital Region and partner agency personnel are scheduled to enforce the Potomac River, Montgomery County, security zone beginning Saturday at approximately 9 a.m. in accordance with the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (33 CFR 165.557).

Under the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (33 CFR 165.33), the regulation prohibits any unauthorized person or vessel from entering or remaining in this security zone while it is in effect.

A transit lane exists along the Maryland shoreline to facilitate the use of the waterway. Persons and vessel operators who intend to enter or transit the security zone while the zone is being enforced must obtain authorization from the Captain of the Port Maryland-National Capital Region or his designated representative.

To request permission to enter or transit the security zone, the local on-scene coordinator, the COTP Maryland-NCR or designated representatives can be contacted via marine band radio VHF-FM channels 13 or 16 (156.8 MHz), by calling 410-576-2693, or by visually or verbally hailing the on-scene law enforcement vessel enforcing the zone.

❗️SPECIAL POST❗️

This photo was sent to us by a Peninsula Regional Medical Center Nurse just prior to unloading a trauma patient. This is Trooper 4 (medevac helicopter) landing at PRMC in Salisbury. Even though you can’t tell, the helipad is actually 3 stories above the ground, literally on the roof of the Emergency Room. This is a view that not very many people get to see.

2 days in a row .. ;) Thanks to Scott and #MarylandAir I was able to get some more good shots of the #SpitfireHangar L39 UP & UP late this afternoon before the rain started. Yesterday I was lamenting that the backseat was beconing me, but today with a passenger, I realized he was getting his required touch and goes in before taking a passenger up ...

The bad weather forced Rumsfeld's Beechcraft to return to the ramp and forced a 2007 Sikorsky S-76C-2 to land with it's passengers and tank up, and after watching the weather for a bit, they headed South fleeing NYC ;) and the tower told the Beachcraft if they could be in the air in 15 minutes, there was a window for them to land in. They were all over that !! I'll get to those photos tomorrow I guess. website .. #eastontower.com

The Domino Sugar sign is an iconic landmark on the Baltimore waterfront. Its employees spent the last oyster season growing spat in 50 cages at its docks.
Now, Domino Sugar Baltimore takes its baby bivalves out to the protected reef at Fort Carroll on the Patapsco. Chesapeake Bay Foundation estimates 116,000 surviving spat made the trip.
How sweet!!

Darren's Pack

Darren's Pack

So, Darren’s latest adventure included a midnight ride in a helicopter with the amazing crew from MSP last night 😞 We woke up to him having a seizure (thankfully he’s been sleeping in between us ever since we knew his tumor has progressed) so we caught it and were able to call for help.

This seizure looked different than any that he’s had before, so it really scared us! We’re thankful for the quick response of QAC Emergency services who arrived within minutes, and then called for aviation to transport us to duPont. With all that Darren has going on currently with the progression of his tumor, and treatment about to begin, we had to be sure that we didn’t have a bigger underlying cause of this different seizure, such as a shunt malfunction, or any other neurological problems. The seizure lasted about 5 minutes (after it woke us up) but came with odd breathing, and left sided movement (instead of his usual right side being affected).

Darren was really scared that he had to ride in the helicopter, as we waited on it’s arrival in the ambulance. His mind was quickly put to ease when the flight paramedic stepped up in the ambulance and informed him that he would have his own head set and microphone to talk to the entire crew through the flight. 🤣 If you know Darren, you can imagine his face when he told him that (thank God, because it crushes us to see him that upset and scared). His eyes lit up, and he was excited to hear all that goes on within the crew of 4 through our flight, and chime in occasionally 🤣

We got to duPont a little after midnight, and we were admitted to the floor for observation. More than likely this is from the new nodules in his tumor, so they added a new medication that will help in the future. We just got discharge papers, and we’re heading out the door to go home NOW 🎉

They put him through a fast MRI last night to be sure we didn’t have any major causes for this seizure, and all was stable in comparison to the scan he just had about 20 days ago, which is good news!!

We’re praying this was a fluke thing, and we won’t deal with more seizures like this. I’ve never been more ready for him to start treatment than I am now, and as of now it looks like his meds will arrive for us to begin around June 5th.

We can’t thank QAC EMS and MSP aviation crew enough for their quick response, care, and kindness! I’m not sure who the gentleman to Darren’s right is, but he was exceptional in working with Darren, easing his fears, and making sure that he was calm and comfortable through our flight 💕 Truly a God send!

Please continue to pray for no more hiccups before we begin treatment journey, we’re ready for this tumor to start shrinking!!

U.S. Navy Blue Angels

U.S. Navy Blue Angels

It's a bittersweet day for us as we say our final farewell to our venerable C-130T, Fat Albert.

Fat Albert has served the Blue Angels honorably the past 17 years, flown more than 30,000 hours in support of our mission, and represented the United States Marine Corps to millions of fans.

This current airframe, BUNO 164763, has been with the team since 2002, and was the last C-130 to conduct a jet-assisted take-off (JATO).

While this may come as a shock to many of our fans, we have known this day was coming. The team will be transported via Fleet-provided logistics, until a permanent replacement aircraft is identified. Fat Albert will enjoy her retirement as a ground-based training aid in Fort Worth, Texas.
