Rejections from Vermont film festivals have definitely stung the most. Creating really is such a double edged sword, particularly with intimate and personal stories (or songs or paintings or whatever your medium may be). But taking time to reflect on the folks who have been moved by Suzanne's story/life's work presented in this film and those who have taken the time out of their busy lives to watch it on their own accord has meant a lot. It's a difficult reminder that creation should be about the process, the journey, the internal satisfaction it gives you and not accolades or screenings or laurels.

Anyway, this short doc I made about my friend Suzanne (along with my other friend Kerry) is now 'public'. You can watch if you want, or not watch if you don't want. In the end, I'm just grateful for the connection the medium of filmmaking can foster. I'm grateful for people's vulnerability and trust and grace and humor and kindness. I am forever grateful to Suzanne for sharing so much of herself with us. We miss her.

Why does a photographer make portraits? A safe conduit for connection to others? Shielding one’s own vulnerability by capturing another person’s vulnerabilit...

Part of why I love living where I do is the sense of community and giving and people wanting to make a difference for others. Its a pleasure to be able to donate a small amount of my own time to help out this cause and film some videos about this beautiful Muleskinner Instruments guitar made specially to raise funds for Chandler Center for the Arts and their mission to bring diverse and wonderful music and art to our wonderful piece of paradise here in Vermont. Check out the demo and get some tickets today!

Hi folks. Here's my face because apparently that does something for making posts go in more people's feeds or something?

I'd venture to guess I am not alone in saying that I love movies. Films mean a whole lot to me. Documentaries and horror tend to pull me in more than most others...and frequently documentaries are horrific. Being a part of the Vermont Production Collective has allowed me the opportunity to make a difference with a realm of something I love: films, filmmaking and community.

As an introvert silently, but eagerly, always seeking community, connection and purpose (I realize those two things don't necessarily make sense) VPC has provided me with the ability to drive change and feel proud about the work getting done for something bigger than just myself.

Its going to be a big year for change and growth in the film industry in Vermont. If you have the means to chip in even $5 today , it would mean the world.

Thank you.

Hi friends, last year I had the unreal privilege to work on a film directed by a filmmaker who's movies were a huge part of my childhood and had a profound influence on the beginning of my love and appreciation for the horror genre (you could call his films "horror lite" I suppose).

Around the same time I joined the board of the Vermont Production Collective because I wanted to make tangible improvements for something I care deeply about here where I live. Vermont has not historically been friendly to film productions. There is no official "film office" or a person to answer the phones for out of state folks wanting to film here. No current database of crew and locations. We have no tax incentives that act as a lure to attract large studios here (which is why they instead a production would fly their cast to Romania to film a show set in "Vermont") who then spend tens of thousands of indirect dollars to boost up the local economy and businesses.

A big part of what VPC's efforts are focused on is filling that gap. Creating a database, ensuring someone is answering the phones. Ensuring that out of state productions can find AND HIRE film industry professionals living in the state. We also have a keen desire to foster and grow our community that is already here.

Today we launched a fundraiser to help bolster our efforts for 2024. Collaborations with local film festivals. Sponsored industry meet ups. Ensuring that the filmmakers and creative industry folks who want to stay here have resources so that they can. This is going to be a big year of transition and growth for film in the state. Working with legislators to lay pathways to create jobs, grow the creative economy and ensure that Vermont has a seat at the table when it comes to the movie making industry. I am truly excited about what the future brings, but like with everything, money is a factor.

$1, $10, $100. Literally every dollar earned through this effort matters and makes a difference. Please take a minute to check it out or share with a friend. It would mean a lot.

2024 is off to an exciting start! This April we are partnering with the Made Here Film Festival and Vermont Public to present table reads from the Vermont Screenplay ...
