Field of Dreams.

Somewhere after becoming husband and wife, they found a quiet moment to simply be.

No timeline.
No guests.
No expectations.

Just the two of them and the Colorado spring grass.

When you’re planning a proposal from out of town, there’s a lot more to think about than most people realize.

Where should it happen?
What should we wear?
What if the weather changes?
How do we make it feel natural and not like a photoshoot?

Those are the conversations we had before this session.

My job isn’t just taking photos. It’s helping create space for a moment that feels like yours.

A location that fits your story.
A plan for the weather.
Enough guidance that you know what to do.
Enough freedom that you can forget I’m there.

And then, somewhere between the nerves, the planning, and the mountains…

this happens.

Just two people completely lost in each other.

Summer vibes and a sunrise hike up to “my” mountain for an engagement shoot.
Yes, it’s chilly at 5am, it’s dark, you’ll have headlamps on and won’t really see what’s around you for at least 30 minutes.
Then the sun rises….

Be still my heart.

Before sunrise in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, we beeped out onto a little-known alpine lake so still it barely felt real. The reflections? Unreal…except they were.

In winter, Olympic athletes have been helicoptered into this hidden spot for downhill ski training.
In summer, it becomes something quieter. Softer. A place to breathe, drift, and remember your own strength.

This Empowerment Session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a meditation on water.

Carving lines and chasing winter.
Some people ski the mountain…some become part of it. ❄️

Some of my favorite wedding photos happen in the pauses. The drive. The deep breath. The forehead touch before the world catches up again.

Be still my heart. 🖤

Sometimes a photograph feels less like something you captured and more like something you witnessed.

The way he looks at her.
The softness in her expression.
The light catching the lace on her sleeve like it knew exactly where to land.

No elaborate posing.
Just trust, movement, laughter, and the kind of connection that makes the rest of the world disappear for a second.

This is why I’ll always love black and white.
It strips everything down to feeling. 🤍

Be still my heart…this is exactly why I love winter elopements in the San Juan Mountains.

Fresh snow.
Quiet roads.
The mountains wrapped in clouds.

And her…in that incredible vintage coat and wide brim hat like she walked straight out of another era.

One of the unexpected gifts of eloping in the middle of the week?
Space.

No crowds.
No pressure.
No audience.

Just room to breathe, wander, laugh, and actually experience the day together.

We had stretches of time where it felt like the entire mountain belonged only to them. The kind of quiet that softens everything and reminds you what these days are really about in the first place.

Not rushing.
Not performing.

Just being fully there with the person you love. 🤍

My Quiet Place.
Out in the middle of the night for hours that pass like minutes (sometimes 15 seconds at a time!) while I adjust focus, settings, positioning…and every time that soft exhale of “there it is”.
See my Under the Starry Skies series on my website, link in profile.

There are moments like these…especially with ‘tweens, when we just gotta let everyone be themselves.
So when emotions get to this point, we shift gears, and during this extended family shoot, I was working with the grandparents, when I happened to catch these father/daughter moments.
Not performing for the camera, just their relationship.
These are the ones I hope they both come back to. Again and again.
