I wish I had heard their vows.

But during an intimate wedding or proposal, I’m so focused on the emotions, the connections, and all those little moments unfolding around me that sometimes the words escape me.

Fortunately, I already knew enough about Amanda and Don to feel confident telling their love story.

They’d both been married before. They’re raising kids in high school. They’d been committed to one another for years.

They traveled from Oklahoma, so extreme weather wasn’t exactly unfamiliar territory. Although Amanda was a little freaked out by our Colorado monsoons earlier that week. 😂

They wanted no fuss, no muss.

Just an intimate wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends. And more importantly, they wanted those people included in all the moments, not simply watching from the sidelines.

But my favorite detail?

Amanda told me that when Don proposed, he said his friends had told him he’d be crazy not to marry this woman.

And he’s not crazy. ❤️

A little secret about photographing surprise proposals: future grooms are nervous. Really nervous. 😂

They may forget exactly where they’re supposed to stand. They may forget where their photographer is hiding. They may wander around a mountain while said photographer is trying very hard to look like she is definitely NOT waiting for someone to propose.

And somehow, it all works.

Cameron knew one thing for certain: he wanted Nicole, and he wanted Colorado in all of its fall glory.

After she said yes, the nerves disappeared. There was ch*****ne, laughter, a beautiful new ring, and a whole lot of walking up and down a mountain.

At one point Nicole and I hugged, and we both immediately apologized to each other for being sweaty. 😂 That may have been the exact moment I knew I adored these two.

But what I’ll remember most is their joy.

The way they looked at each other. The way they laughed together. The way Cameron’s entire demeanor changed once the question he’d been carrying around was finally answered.

She said yes.

And from that moment on, these two were simply, completely happy.

Congratulations, Cameron & Nicole. What an absolute joy it was to be there for the beginning of this next chapter. ❤️

There is no age limit on desire.

No age when you’re supposed to stop being sensual.
Stop being playful.
Stop grabbing each other.
Stop looking at each other that way.

I photographed the big mountain.
I photographed the beautiful view.

But that black & white photograph?

That’s the one.

Because love doesn’t have to become polite just because we get older.

Sometimes it’s cold water, warm light, wet hair, bare skin—and a few minutes where nobody needs anything from you.

No performing. No pretending.

Just time to myself.

Grateful.
