Confession…

I love me a big belly.

Not because pregnancy is always easy—it isn’t.

But because every pregnancy carries its own story.

Strength.
Anticipation.
Change.
Wonder.

This soon-to-be mama told me she wanted extravagance.

So we skipped the soft, delicate poses and headed into waterfalls, mountains, and wild places.

Because motherhood isn’t small.

It’s powerful.

And sometimes the landscape should rise to meet it.

“No more boyfriend rock.”

That was Ann’s text after her wedding celebration that I captured.

For years, Ann and I were climbing partners, and we developed a shorthand language for different holds and features on the rock.

A boyfriend rock looks great from a distance. But when you finally reach it, it’s slippery, offers no support, and leaves you wondering why you trusted it in the first place.

So when she texted, “No more boyfriend rock,” I knew exactly what she meant.

Not every love story begins at twenty.

Some begin after enough life experience to know the difference between what looks good and what actually holds fast when you need it.

What an honor to witness and document this beginning.

Congratulations, Ann and Tom. ❤️

I should probably have a more professional explanation for how I choose music for elopement reels.

Something about storytelling.
Emotion.
Movement.
Visual rhythm.

Instead…

I was taking a break from editing, scrolling Instagram, and saw a video of Mads Mikkelsen dancing.

Next thing I know, I’m pairing this song with a champagne pop from Holly and Colin’s elopement.

And honestly?

It works.

A little wild.
A little joyful.
A little unexpected.

Kind of like the best day of your life.
🥂

For Wesley’s 50th birthday, Alice surprised him with an Under the Stars session.

What happened was this…

They sat on a picnic blanket lit by fairy lights and named constellations.

They popped a bottle of champagne.

Her laugh was joyous. His was an infectious chuckle.

As we walked back toward the barn, Wesley looked up and said,

“Well, this isn’t my first time walking down a dark country road with a bottle of booze.”

Then he paused.

“And I haven’t seen this many stars in a long time.”

Not a bad way to ring in your 50th.

Some birthdays call for cake.

Others call for a dark sky, a person you love, and a reminder that the universe is a pretty spectacular place.

One of the greatest privileges of being a photographer is witnessing people fully being themselves.

Not performing.
Not shrinking.
Not fitting into someone else’s idea of who they should be.

Just showing up as they are—with joy, tenderness, courage, laughter, love, and authenticity.

Pride Month is a celebration of that courage.

Of being seen.
Of being known.
Of loving and being loved.

The older I get, the more I believe that the world needs less perfection and more people willing to be exactly who they are.

So here’s to living honestly, loving boldly, and celebrating every story that makes us uniquely ourselves.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

Field of Dreams.

Somewhere after becoming husband and wife, they found a quiet moment to simply be.

No timeline.
No guests.
No expectations.

Just the two of them and the Colorado spring grass.

When you’re planning a proposal from out of town, there’s a lot more to think about than most people realize.

Where should it happen?
What should we wear?
What if the weather changes?
How do we make it feel natural and not like a photoshoot?

Those are the conversations we had before this session.

My job isn’t just taking photos. It’s helping create space for a moment that feels like yours.

A location that fits your story.
A plan for the weather.
Enough guidance that you know what to do.
Enough freedom that you can forget I’m there.

And then, somewhere between the nerves, the planning, and the mountains…

this happens.

Just two people completely lost in each other.

Summer vibes and a sunrise hike up to “my” mountain for an engagement shoot.
Yes, it’s chilly at 5am, it’s dark, you’ll have headlamps on and won’t really see what’s around you for at least 30 minutes.
Then the sun rises….

Be still my heart.

Before sunrise in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, we beeped out onto a little-known alpine lake so still it barely felt real. The reflections? Unreal…except they were.

In winter, Olympic athletes have been helicoptered into this hidden spot for downhill ski training.
In summer, it becomes something quieter. Softer. A place to breathe, drift, and remember your own strength.

This Empowerment Session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a meditation on water.
