A Letter of Gratitude 💙

To all of my photography clients, friends, families, and followers….

I have been thinking about how to put this into words, because this feels like the end of one chapter and the beginning of another—and I have so many emotions and so much gratitude in my heart.

In 2013, right before I gave birth to my son, I bought my very first DSLR camera. At the time, I never could have imagined where that little camera would take me. In the beginning, I simply photographed my kids and the beauty of nature around me. I loved the idea of freezing time for just those small moments, while the kids were little, while nature bloomed, while seasons changed. Then, in 2014, I began photographing families.

What started as something I loved quickly became something so much bigger. Over the years, I have had the incredible privilege of stepping into so many people’s lives and capturing moments that mattered. I have photographed weddings, engagements, announcements, surprises, families, newborns, children, and countless milestones. I’ve captured Halloween sessions and themed shoots featuring Harry Potter, Spider-Man, lemons, watermelons, horror film characters, princesses, Ninja Turtles, bo***ir, and so many other ideas that made each session completely unique.

Every photoshoot taught me something. Every family trusted me with a little piece of their story. Every smile, laugh, tear, silly moment, and quiet moment became a memory that I was honored to preserve.

When I look back at where I started in 2013 and where I am today, I can see just how much I have learned and grown—not only as a photographer, but as a person. Photography gave me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, make friendships, experience moments I otherwise never would have witnessed, and create memories that I hope families will treasure for generations. And for that, I am truly, deeply and forever grateful.

After more than a decade behind the camera, I have made the difficult decision to take a step back from photography. This isn’t because I stopped loving it. In fact, that’s what makes this decision so difficult. Photography will always be a part of who I am and a very special part of my life.

Right now, though, I feel called to make more time for my family and to focus my energy on my other business, with the hope and intention of opening a storefront next year. I started making earrings as a small little side hobby after college graduation while I rewatched old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. I opened an Etsy shop and did farmers markets on the weekends. Never did I think that a goofy little hobby would grow so quick!

Life changes. Priorities change. Dreams evolve.

And while I’m stepping back from photographing clients, I don’t feel like I’m closing the door on everything photography has given me. I will still post photos from time to time. I will carry every lesson, every memory, every friendship, and every beautiful moment with me into whatever comes my way next.

To every person who ever booked a session with me, recommended me to a friend, shared my work, liked a post, left a kind review, trusted me with your wedding day, brought your babies to me, let me capture your growing families, or simply followed along with my journey — From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!!

Thank you for believing in me before I fully believed in myself. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your most important moments. Thank you for trusting me to tell your stories through photographs. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to turn something I started as a hobby into more than I ever imagined it could become.

I will forever be thankful for every single photoshoot, every client, every friendship, every laugh, and every memory.

I may be stepping away from photography as a business, but I will never stop being grateful for the years I spent behind the camera.

Thank you for letting me capture your memories. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

With love and endless gratitude,

Susan Elizabeth 💙
