They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I think that’s because a photograph can freeze more than just a moment—it can freeze a feeling.

The art of photography isn’t always about capturing the “prettiest” picture. Sometimes it’s about capturing an emotion so honestly that you can feel it through a still frame.

Editing is hands down one of the hardest parts of photography—but it’s also where you can completely transform a shot. The right lighting, color, saturation, and tones can change the entire feel of an image.

And honestly, not every photo from a session needs to have the exact same vibe. Different locations, angles, outfits, and lighting can call for something completely different. Especially with an extended session where we’re shooting in multiple locations—I like letting each setting tell its own story.

Sometimes the location is a bust. The pictures don’t have to be.

We pulled up to Nottoway Falls expecting what we’d seen online… and let’s just say, reality had other plans. 😂

But that’s part of photography. It’s not always about having the perfect location, perfect light or perfect backdrop. It’s about knowing how to see the shot that’s there.

Find the light. Find the angle. Frame out what doesn’t belong. Make what’s ordinary feel intentional.
