This is a photo I took at Dill’s Tavern this year during the annual Celtic Fest. I can’t explain why I love this photo so much but I think it has to do with the way that the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS for short) takes care of and insists upon the authenticity of the tavern. They really want you to take a step back into the 18th century and because of their hard work, that’s exactly what happens when you walk in.
It heavily contributes to why I love this photo as much as I do. If I were to travel back in time, snap the same photo, in the same spot - the tavern would still look just like it does here. That amount of time, effort, care, and planning to keep the tavern preserved and functioning is nothing like I have ever seen nor may get to experience anywhere else except in this small, but special town off Route 15.
