Hope and Sean made me cry harder than I’ve ever cried at any wedding. Both their vows to one another were beyond beautiful. I just felt to completely understand the depth of their love it was necessary to share this poem that Sean wrote for Hope.
Yesterday
Yesterday I missed you.
Sometimes we are in different places and I wish you were next to me. I desire you like the warmth of a morning coffee, or the warm sun after the freezing cold. Or the times you get sick and wish you could feel anything else.
Yesterday I saw you sleeping and the sun shined on you in such a way I got jealous. It’s just that when I looked at you, nothing else mattered.
My worries, my anxieties, and my stresses wasted away. It feels like I have to close the curtains to stop the sun from taking you from me.
Yesterday we did so much. We could finally take a breathe. Yesterday we laughed so hard we couldn’t breathe. Yesterday we cried so hard we didn’t want to breathe but today we’re here.
Today I get to share this moment with you. Today you are and will always be the most loving, lovable, goofball in the world. Today I will say I love you and no one else will understand the weight of those words except you and me.
So tomorrow we might be in different places, but we know another day will come so I promise to cherish every second with you. I promise to be your number one supporter even when it’s hard to love yourself. I promise to make you laugh and smile. Every chance I get. Finally I promise to always be my adventurous self, find new ways to live and explore as we build our life together.
