Garden of the Muses

I was so excited about the fire photos I posted them out of order for the story line. In these images we outline the decadence, joy and passion that exist between the muses before those warm feelings give way to sadness, desperation and, eventually, self immolation.

I’d like to speak again about how this concept came together from disparate parts and formless ideas into something concrete and to my eyes, very beautiful. The composition and lighting are second to the emotion being displayed by the models. I’m floored yet again to be able to work with such talented people.

As a side note, can you believe Irene created both the dresses herself? 🤩❤️‍🔥

Blinding of Lucia

Inspired by a haunting image of St. Lucia (Lucy) that transfixed and frightened as a child while hung in her grandfathers workshop in Italy.

I tend not to directly recreate pieces from the past but I so enjoyed this theme that I wanted to roll with it. I ended up moving away from its original medieval/early Renaissance style to one more informed by the Baroque period. Given the subject matter I couldn’t help sprinkling a bit of gore on top. Below I’ve included a bit of context and backstory for the legendary iconography.

….According to later accounts, before she died, she foretold the punishment of Paschasius and the speedy end of the persecution, adding that Diocletian would reign no more and Maximian would meet his end. This so angered Paschasius that he ordered the guards to remove her eyes. Another version has Lucy taking her own eyes out in order to discourage a persistent suitor who admired them. When her body was prepared for burial in the family mausoleum it was discovered that her eyes had been miraculously restored.

The emblem of eyes on a cup or plate apparently reflects popular devotion to her as protector of sight, because of her name, Lucia (from the Latin word “lux” which means “light”).In paintings St. Lucy is frequently shown holding her eyes on a golden plate. Lucy was represented in Gothic art holding a dish with two eyes on it. She also holds the palm branch, symbol of martyrdom and victory over evil.Other symbolic images include a lamp, dagger, sword or two oxen.

born from the earth ft. .lamachina & .delick

Glad we got to bring this piece to life after many months of planning. Very dirty and beautiful in equal measure, I’m sure you won’t be surprised to learn that a framed original of this will be featured at The Dirty Show this year. Be sure to come give it a look.

This set was achieved with two bags of dirt, two women and one light in the black of night. Shot on R6 mk. 2 with 35mm 1.4

In an apocalyptic mood lately. It’s hard not to be. Associates and friends dying or losing their homes, a despot the face of our future and seemingly everyones financial situation taking a turn for the worse. Hopelessness clouds joy while the impact of emotional blows blind rational gaze. At times it feels that all one can do is make the art that reflects ones thoughts and emotions in the face of such adversity. I’ll continue doing just that.

Coinciding with this train of thought and artistic expression, I’ll be apart of a nuclear devastation themed art show. There you can purchase this first photo framed and ready to hang on your wall. The event is on this coming Friday the 13th. Details can be found on the last slide.

As a side note: I’m blessed to have such a great art partner. Who the hell else am I going to find to literally light themselves on fire for the sake of creation?

You travel over hill and under branch for 10 miles eastward into the deep wood surrounding the town. At length, you reach a grove. The first thing you notice is an odd weight held in its air as if an odious and omnipresent will is being exerted over the place. An unease penetrates you to the core as you scan your surroundings. Your eyes fall over the gnarled mass of roots, mud and fallen leaves that blankets the ground. The cold wind brings the suggestion of a whisper as it tickles your ear. Bidden forth by unseen strings you amble to the middle of the grove. You crouch low and study the ground in more detail. Fragments of bone, shredded cloth, and speckles of blood darkened with age. After this discovery a strong stench of iron assails your nose followed by the sensation of sharp pin pricks in your face, neck and chest. Your eyes roll back as the foreign pleasure of pain rolls through your body in waves. As you gaze into the dark void of your skull a reverie comes into focus. A daydream…. A nightmare… the events of the past come flooding into you.

Had such a good time working with this amazing group of piercers and pain enthusiasts. We captured something special this night. Much blood was shed for the sake of art and for that I am forever grateful.

“Withered Bride”

A woodsman approached the rivers edge through the thick mist of the frigid morning. He carried a dirty rucksack and an air of malice. Stopping at the waterline he sling the pack off his shoulder and rooted around within before pulling out a sharp circlet and an old leather tome. The book was bound in leather cracked and worn from many hands rubbing across its cover over the course of what only could have been eons of time. His boots sank down into the liquified mud as he bent down slowly and submerged the tips of his fingers in the flowing water. Opening the great book and scanning its pages he hummed a soft melody that eerily resonated accords the surface and through the dried birch branches. He stayed that way a long time, humming and stroking the water. At last, bubbles broke the gentle flow of water and a grey thing emerged from muck and sucked cold air into its dark, decayed lungs for the first time in many years. It was a woman, veiled in bridal style but naked otherwise. She peered down at her body, covered in ancient clay and silt from the rivers bottom. How had she awoke? Who had she been? Who was the dark figure before her? Her sinister purpose came into focus as the woodsman decorated her desiccated skull with the muddy crown. The light that existed in her eyes flickered and faded to be replaced by two small unfashionable voids. Those voids settled on the irises of the woodsman.
“I love you.” She uttered in a rasping breath.
The woods man nodded and gave a stiff grunt. He then retrieved his rucksack, turned and began stalking off through the forest. She followed, the sound of the leaves crunching and her creaking bones intermingling on the wind.

What a nice time hanging in the autumnal woods with a good friend. 😇

I’m really enjoying giving my sets a heightened dimension with prose. I’m no Faulkner but I like to stretch my linguistic skills. I never get a chance to write anything since leaving school.

“Herald”

Blessed to have such a great team to help bring this evil vision to life. KILLED the makeup and cocoon design. .de.sade sade was the best bug I could’ve found. I wrote a little contextual prose to pair with the set. Read below.

The world has reached the apex of its rot. Fascists rule the masses with an iron tongue as opposed to a fist. The flora and fauna are diseased, desiccating and dying. The land is littered with their corpses. The clouds are swollen with noxious gas, blotting out the sun. Hope is diminished. Faith has grown purulent. The only option left is deliverance from this hellscape of man’s own creation. Deep in the bowels of a long forgotten tenement a harbinger has been cocooned for decades. As the world decays, so does the lining of that cocoon. A crack. A squelch. A tearing of the seams. Out emerges the herald of the end times. Rapture has come. The new orders chosen deity. Not one evolved of ape but one evolved of insect.

Sanguine Abomination

and I birthed a twisted monster in my basement.

I need to stop doing this to myself. I’m starting to feel too afraid to go down and change over the laundry alone. I suppose it’s the danger of bringing too many nightmares to life at home. Don’t s**t where you eat kids.

(Retired the skin mask after this shoot. Huge shoutout to for letting me enhance my art with it)
