The transformation has officially begun! 🚧 The first phase of demolition is now underway at the Detroit Lakes Pavilion as crews prepare the site for an exciting new chapter. It's always a little bittersweet to see a familiar landmark come down, but it's even more exciting knowing what's coming next.

Check out this drone footage of the heavy equipment in action as work gets underway. Before long, this space will be home to a beautiful new pavilion that will serve our community for generations to come.

Here is a preview of what the new pavilion will look like when it is done. Next comes the fun part of getting us there.

The DL Pavilion project moved ahead with updated designs at a recent City Council work session. The project is funded by a half-cent sales tax for abt $17.5 million in renovations to the Pavilion and City Park/City Beach areas. The plan includes a synthetic turf event lawn and a larger splash pad.

One of my favorite things about living in Detroit Lakes is seeing our community come together to create experiences the whole family can enjoy. Yesterday’s Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show perfect example. 🪓🌲

From the exciting competitions to the smiles on the kids’ faces, it was great to see so many families making memories together. Events like these are especially important for our youth, giving them opportunities to get outside, have fun, and experience traditions that make our community so special.

Thanks to everyone who helps make events like this possible!

This was the 1st annual LumberJack Festival hosted by Becker County Museum on the Becker County Fairgrounds.

Spent some time this week at Camp Wilderness in Minnesota teaching Scouts about the exciting world of drone flight. It was great to see so much enthusiasm as they learned about aviation, safety, and the technology behind today's drones.

While I was there, I couldn't resist capturing a little aerial footage of the camp and the surrounding wilderness. The scenery was incredible, but the sunsets were truly something special. Watching the sky light up over the Northwoods each evening was a reminder of just how beautiful Minnesota can be.

Another exciting update from the West Lake Drive project! 🚧

Take a look at the beautiful new street lamps that have been installed along the roadway. Designed to match the fixtures already in place on the other end of West Lake Drive, these lights are helping bring a consistent look and feel to the entire corridor.

With each new addition, it's becoming easier to see the vision coming together—and it's looking fantastic. The combination of the new roadway, pathways, and decorative lighting is going to make this one of the most attractive stretches along the lake.

I had no idea what to expect when I showed up to film the Minnesota Flyers Color Run, and I'll admit I was a little surprised when they started handing out black shirts for a color run. But once the race got underway, it all made perfect sense!

The black shirts turned into a canvas of bright colors as runners made their way through the course, creating an incredible scene from the air. The excitement, energy, laughter, and clouds of color made for an unforgettable event and some amazing drone footage.

Progress continues on the West Lake Drive reconstruction project! 🚧

The new concrete roadway is now more than halfway complete, and the colored stamped concrete pathways are really starting to take shape. It's exciting to see the vision come together as each section is finished.

These upgrades will not only improve the roadway but also create a beautiful space for walking, biking, and enjoying the lake for years to come. Take a look at the latest progress from above!

🎶 Tuesday Night in the Park was a trip down memory lane! 🎶

The bandshell in Detroit Lakes was filled with the timeless music of Neil Diamond and Bob Seger as The Tribute Kings brought classic hits to life for a great crowd on a beautiful summer evening. There's just something special about gathering in City Park, enjoying live music, and soaking up another Minnesota summer night. The Tuesdays in the Park series continues all summer at the City Park Bandshell, keeping this community tradition alive.

If you missed this one, be sure to bring a lawn chair, gather some friends, and join the fun next Tuesday!

A quick flyover of the Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary Soccer Park as the next generation of athletes got their practice underway.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a beautiful facility serving the youth of our community. This park stands as a lasting testament to the vision and foresight of the Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary, whose members recognized years ago the importance of investing in opportunities for local families and young athletes.

Today, hundreds of kids enjoy the benefits of that commitment—learning teamwork, building friendships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
