Hannu Huhtamo Photography Light painter and photographer from Helsinki, Finland. OM System ambassador. It’s based on long exposure times that vary from a few seconds to hours.

All of my works are made with a photographic technique called ”light painting” aka ”light drawing”. While the cameras shutter is open you are able to draw in the air by moving different kinds of light sources in front of the camera. Light painting requires a dark environment and it’s usually made at night. Darkness is the canvas and light is my brush

Self portrait, 2026. I had a project in Geneva two weeks ago. I led several workshops, where I also created light painting portraits for the participants. Since it was a private event, unfortunately I can’t share any of the photos taken there on social media. I did, however, create one of myself in the same style.

Defeat the dark and paint the colors back. I haven’t been very active on social media lately. A few projects have taken up a lot of my time, and our family is also moving to a new home. For over a month now, I’ve mostly just been staring at renovation calculations and inspection reports of houses for sale.

I am currently on a plane on my way to Boston, USA. I’ll share more about that later ✨

2025 was a great year full of inspiring experiences. I had the opportunity to dive into longer-term projects with amazing clients, lecture both in Finland and internationally, merge light art with live visuals and album artwork, and even make a brief appearance on television.
