I’ve been in Croatia for 3 weeks and Dubrovnik was by far the busiest and most crowded area we visited. And yet, if you walk just barely outside of the town square, you will find so many nice restaurants and bars that have barely anyone in them. I almost walked right past this place because their store front was just behind a very normal looking residential door.

We were some of the only people in this wine bar late in the afternoon on a Saturday. Live music, a natural canopy and really good wine on a rooftop 🍷

It says you need reservations, but we just walked in and were seated immediately. Truly a hidden gem.

When my job became partially remote due to COVID, my dream plan hatched of working remotely abroad. 2 years later, the job was fully remote. Now 6 years later, here I am: in Croatia for 3 weeks, with my laptop, starting my work day once the sun starts going down and ending well past midnight.

Before work, our weekdays have looked like the photos included here; wandering for miles in the narrow stone alleyways and lots of gelato & cappuccinos. Classic American tourists. But these photos are only of the first few days while we get settled in and fight off the jet lag (it’s pretty bad 😅)

We’re here for 3 weeks before exploring other countries in Europe and while that seems like so much time to be in one place, it’s NOT. Trying to find a balance between seeing everything, having time to work, and not getting burnt out between it all.

I keep reminding myself that I am quite literally living my dream life and while I always imagined I’d do it alone, I get to do it with my best friend and ❤️, whose job was also lenient enough to let him work abroad.

What a life ☕️🍦💛
