Let me tell y’all a little about the why behind Pearly Castle Photography.
My Papaw Castle — aka Pearly Castle Sibley — passed away suddenly when my mom was only 6 years old. Although I never got to meet him, my Memaw, my mom, and my aunts have always spoken so highly of him that it feels like I’ve known him my whole life… or at least met him once.
I only have a few pictures of him — photos they just so happened to take a couple of weeks before his passing. Those pictures are all I have to catch even a small glimpse of who he was.
This Christmas, I had the idea to give my aunts, my mom, and my Memaw something truly special — a picture of Papaw with his and Memaw’s grandkids. So, I went to editing. I pieced together individual photos of all of us, and I could not be more in love with the final result.
The black-and-white version was the first one I created… but of course, ChatGPT for the win, turning it into a watercolor portrait — and y’all… this picture is EVERYTHING.
