As a young Southern California boy, Richard looked forward to family vacations to Big Sur. His interest in California's ranch heritage was sparked by the rolling hills, grazing livestock, and the shadowy figures of working cowboys at ranches along the El Camino Real. Many years and tens of thousands of pictures later, he is a professional photographer taking images of those very same ranches he fell in love with from his parents' car window. He is especially honored to be the official photographer for the Hearst Ranch in San Simeon, and has been chronicling their operations consistently throughout the last decade. In 1995, he was designated the official photographer for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). His images are consistently requested for use by news media and national publications. His photographs have even served as reference for paintings by cowboy artists. Additionally, his photographs appear in national trade magazines, rodeo programs, and was published in the book "True Horsemanship Through Feel" by the late Bill Dorrance. With cameras in hand, Richard captures history in the making: sweeping coastal landscapes; the fury of bucking broncos and raging bulls; intimate wedding portraits; behind the scenes productions, and more.
