Subject charged for shooting at Emergency Management Drone during search for Missing Juvenile
On 04-13-2026, Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputies and Wagoner County Emergency Management personnel responded to the 10700 Block of South 353rd East Avenue to search for a missing juvenile believed to be in danger.
During the search effort at approximately 2037 hours, deputies reported hearing a gunshot originating from the southwest of their location. At the time, Emergency Management personnel were actively operating a drone to assist in locating the missing juvenile.
Witnesses, including deputies and Emergency Management staff, observed that the shot was directed toward the drone. The operator of the drone identified the location where the shot originated as a residence in the 36100 block of E. 111th Street South in Coweta.
Deputies responded to the residence and made contact with the suspect. During the investigation, the suspect admitted to firing a shotgun at the drone. He stated he believed he had prior authorization to shoot at drones however, deputies advised him that discharging a firearm at an aircraft, including an unmanned aerial system, is a serious criminal offense.
Charges related to reckless discharge of a firearm and shooting at an aircraft were submitted to the Wagoner County District Attorney’s Office for review. On 04-24-2026, a warrant was issued for the suspect, identified as Drucel Hall of Coweta, OK. He was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. On 05-05-2026 Drucel Hall was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center where he was booked into same. His bond was set at $1,000 and the suspect was released after posting bond.
Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott stated, “Our deputies and emergency management personnel were actively working to locate a missing juvenile believed to be in danger when this reckless act occurred. Firing at a drone that is clearly being used in an emergency response is not only dangerous, it’s a serious criminal offense. These tools are critical to helping us locate missing persons quickly and safely. Actions like this put lives at risk and will not be tolerated.”
