DRONE ROOF INSPECTIONS - OKLAHOMA CITY

🌩️ Hail yeah, Oklahoma… storm season is back and it’s not playing nice.

Your roof has been silently taking punches from last year’s hail, wind, and whatever else Mother Nature threw at it.

Question is: Is it actually ready for round two… or is it one supercell away from turning your attic into a swimming pool?

Smart move? Get a professional roof inspection NOW while the weather’s still decent. We catch the hidden damage before it becomes a $10k+ insurance headache (or a leak in your living room).

Local, honest, and fast Drone Home and Roof Inspections for OKC homes.

Drop a “ROOF” in the comments or DM me right now to lock in your spot before we get slammed.

Because “it held up last year” isn’t the flex you think it is when the sirens start going off. 😏

Here's a practical, Oklahoma-focused guide to hail damage insurance tips for homeowners in the Del City/OKC area. Storm season is heating up, so acting early can save you headaches and money.

Before a Hailstorm (Prevention & Prep Tips)

Get a professional roof inspection now — even if your roof looks fine. Hail damage (like bruised shingles or granule loss) is often hidden and can show up months later. A pre-storm baseline helps separate new damage from wear-and-tear during claims.

Review your policy: Check for hail/wind deductibles (often higher than standard ones, sometimes 1-2% of your home's value), Replacement Cost Value (RCV) vs. Actual Cash Value (ACV) coverage, and any cosmetic damage exclusions. RCV pays to replace with new materials; ACV depreciates based on age.
Consider upgrading to impact-resistant (hail-resistant) shingles — many insurers offer discounts, and they better protect against future storms.

Document your current roof condition with photos/videos for your records.

Right After a Hailstorm

Document everything immediately (while safe):
Take clear, timestamped photos and videos of the roof, gutters, vents, siding, windows, AC units, and any interior leaks/ceiling stains.

Note the storm date/time and hail size (photo hailstones next to a ruler if possible).

Save weather reports or alerts as proof.

Mitigate further damage — Cover holes with tarps or plywood if needed, but don't make permanent repairs yet. Most policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage.

Get a professional roof inspection ASAP — Don't climb the roof yourself. A reputable local roofer can spot hidden damage (e.g., soft metal dents on vents/flashing that often appear before shingles show issues) and provide a detailed report/estimate. This strengthens your claim.

Filing the Claim

Report promptly — Contact your insurance company right away. In Oklahoma, visible damage often has shorter deadlines (30–180 days depending on your policy), but thanks to recent law (HB 3495), you generally have up to 24 months for hidden hail damage that isn't obvious without inspection.

File with your documentation, inspection report, and storm details.
Be present (or have your roofer there) when the insurance adjuster inspects — they may miss things, especially if they're from out of state.

Ask questions: Confirm RCV vs. ACV, deductible amount, and coverage limits. Push back politely if the estimate seems low (e.g., only spot repairs when full replacement is needed due to widespread granule loss or brittle shingles).

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Don't wait for leaks — hidden damage can shorten your roof's life and lead to bigger issues later.

Avoid high-pressure "storm chaser" contractors who push you to file before a proper inspection.

Filing a claim doesn't automatically raise rates for weather-related events in Oklahoma, but confirm with your agent.
If denied or undervalued, you can appeal with more evidence (e.g., independent experts or meteorologist reports).

Pro Tip for OKC homeowners: Schedule that roof inspection soon — we're in prime hail season. A quick check could qualify you for coverage before the next big storm hits.

If you're dealing with recent damage or want help drafting a sample message to your insurer/roofer, share more details and I can assist. Stay safe out there! 🌩️
