Proud to share this feature on one of our Digital & Interactive Media Production students, whose routine assignment turned into something truly impactful! Not only has he demonstrated incredible storytelling skills, but he has also earned all the Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve certifications and completed our Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (ELI) program—a testament to his dedication and drive.
This is what we strive for at Daytona State College—empowering students with the skills and experiences they need to succeed in the industry.
What began as a routine assignment for a video editing certification evolved into a major achievement for Digital and Interactive Media Program student Donovan Moore, who became the first in the program’s history to earn all Blackmagic Design certifications.
“I wanted to do something I can be proud of, and because the certification programs took what I was learning to a whole new level,” Moore said.
After moving to Palm Coast with his family in 2020, Moore discovered Daytona State while researching colleges that fit his budget, location, and program interests. An enthusiastic individual with extensive experience in digital interactive media, he had developed a passion for PC gaming, screen recording, and video editing.
“I attended a student orientation at the Flagler/Palm Coast Campus in the summer of 2023, where I met Brad Moody (Chair of the School of Digital Media Production). He directed me toward the Digital Media program, which offers an electronic music production class, as well as a broader range of courses.”
Moore started classes in Fall 2023, and as part of his Fundamentals of Digital Video course, he was assigned to complete The Beginner’s Guide to DaVinci Resolve certification. He earned that certification in December 2024 and used the holiday break to achieve additional optional certifications, including The Editor’s Guide to DaVinci Resolve, The Fairlight Audio Guide to DaVinci Resolve, The Colorist Guide to DaVinci Resolve, and The Visual Effects Guide to DaVinci Resolve, as well as his Entrepreneurial Learning Institute Entrepreneurial Mindset Certification.
Moore plans to graduate this summer and, while he doesn’t have firm plans, he’s begun looking for an internship with an eye toward movie production and post-production.
