If you’re anywhere in the Phoenix Metro, put Oasis Swim Center in Surprise on your list ASAP! This place feels more like a mini waterpark than a public pool, with SIX water slides, rock climbing walls over the water, diving areas, a huge competition pool, and plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

And the price is hard to beat: Surprise residents pay just $4 for kids and $6 for adults, while non-residents are only $8 per person.

Oasis Swim Center is only open on weekends now and closes for the season September 27, so there are only a few chances left to visit!

Right next to the Seligman Historical Society is this creepy old jail cell marked Cell 3. It bears the name Yuma Territorial Prison and the dates 1875–1909, and the wild part is that you can actually step inside it yourself.

It’s such a strange little piece of Arizona history hiding in plain sight along Route 66.

Take a drive down Deuce of Clubs through Show Low, Arizona, in the heart of Arizona’s White Mountains.

Deuce of Clubs is the main commercial corridor through Show Low and carries U.S. Route 60 through the city. Its unusual name is connected directly to Show Low’s famous founding story. According to local history, ranching partners Corydon E. Cooley and Marion Clark decided ownership of their ranch with a game of cards. Clark reportedly challenged Cooley to “show low and you win,” and Cooley turned over the deuce of clubs.

The settlement became Show Low, and the deuce of clubs became a lasting symbol of the city. Today, driving Deuce of Clubs takes you through the heart of town, past local businesses, restaurants, hotels, historic sites, and connections to other destinations throughout Arizona’s White Mountains.

This might be one of the dreamiest places we’ve stayed in all of Arizona!

Tucked away in Greer, this absolutely gorgeous 3-bedroom lake house sleeps up to 8 people and has access to a spring-fed lake shared by just a handful of neighboring properties, where guests are welcome to swim, kayak, paddle, and even catch-and-release fish without a fishing license!

The house itself is beautiful, with huge windows overlooking the lake, a modern fully equipped kitchen, plenty of room for the family, a wraparound deck with plenty of seating, a hot tub, fireplace, and TWO balconies off the master bedroom with lake views. 😍

But honestly, it was having the lake right there that made this stay so special. Morning coffee overlooking the water, afternoons by the lake, grilling dinner on the deck, and ending the night in the hot tub surrounded by the forest. This is the kind of Arizona getaway your family will be talking about for years to come!

Driving through tiny Dragoon, Arizona, you might notice something pretty unexpected along Main Street — huge tin dinosaurs behind the gates of a private property! 🦖

The collection also includes a Gila monster and a fun little tin man guarding the entrance. Even better, there’s some local history behind it: these roadside creations continue Dragoon’s quirky dinosaur tradition after the former Rattlesnake Ranch display closed in 2024.

The property is private and clearly marked no trespassing, so this is one Arizona oddity to enjoy right from the roadway.

I can’t believe I waited so long to visit Valley of Fire State Park. 🔥

Just outside of Las Vegas, this place is absolutely unreal. The deeper you drive into the park, the more dramatic it gets, with massive red sandstone formations, wild rock shapes and incredible desert scenery in every direction.

But there’s so much more to see here, including ancient petroglyphs, historic stone cabins, the Clark Memorial, miles of trails, an incredible visitor center, and some of the most beautiful campgrounds and picnic areas in the western United States.

It also makes an incredible overnight road trip from Phoenix.

If Valley of Fire has been sitting on your list, don’t wait as long as I did. This place deserves a spot on your bucket list!
