I blinked, day became night. Sunburnt concert-goers stumbled from the bathrooms, held up by their intoxicated friends. The LED screens became beacons in the night, showering those below in artificial light.

The gravel crunch under boots, sandals, and bare feet was deafening. Before being consumed by the crushing sounds of Alabama playing and the crowd I felt a wetness hit my back. I was caught in a crossfire of people spraying each other with water.

I ducked in and out of the crowd with my Leica and flash. Burst of light blinding those that were chosen by instinct an without warning. I advanced the camera like working a bolt-action rifle, chambering another round.

I kept my head down as I made my way back to my truck. Ducking in and out of the crowd, trying to avoid any eye contact as I made my way out of the gate.

Drunken arguments could be hear ringing out through the field between the beams of headlights. I increased my pace, practically running, to escape.
Safely sitting behind the wheel of my truck, I could hear the stage, the crowd, and the nearby yelling, my own personal safe room. I drove off into the night, but not before hearing " Did you get any good pics?"
