YAK MEAT IS BACK!! We are now offering a Fall Meat Box, and meat by the Pound.

**It's time to get you some lean, juicy, and delicate meat! Unlock the wide range of cooking applications and cuisines, Yak meat is as versatile as it is enjoyable.

But Why Yak? The cell structure of the Yak muscle tissue retains more moisture than beef, and the muscle bundles are made of finer fibers. This creates a juicy and refined steak that doesn’t dry out like game meat. The beautiful darker red muscle color is due to higher myoglobin and therefor the Yak meat is higher in iron, omegas, and much less cholesterol than beef. Yak is truly the best of both the bovine and the wild meat worlds. Yak meat is lean, juicy and delicate, with a flavor profile that lies between elk and bison, yet with a subtlety that is mild and clean on the finish. The meat is both exceptionally rich and delicate.

Meet the newest crew on the block!
9- F1B Bernedoodles

This is a repeat litter with Luna x Boog. Their puppies have some of the best calm and easy to please temperaments. Many past pups have adventured off into service work, companionship placement, and training programs. They also make some of the best farm/family dogs, but we are definitely personally biased there! Expected size is between 35-45lbs.
These guys will be ready for summer adventures with you at the beginning of August.
Let us know if we can help you find your next little adventure buddy!

Mr & Mrs judgy farm owls. They live in the trees surrounding the farmhouse and they are so cool to watch every day. They’ve been mating recently so we’re hoping to spot some babies here soon!

They are such cool creatures.

We finally made the trip to the Star Yak Ranch!
Yak dreams & goals for sure. We’ve been talking about this bull for years and are so excited to finally get him home. We couldn’t pass up bringing a few new ladies home with him too. We’re excited to be bringing home new genetics and new ideas.
The Star Ranch has seemingly changed a lot of things for us Yak ranchers and it’s awesome to have someone like Jeffree raising these amazing animals too!
It’s a bit of a trek home, but we can’t wait to get these new guys settled in and have them be a part of the 205 herd!

Kai & Cleo have gotten so big and so fluffy. They are almost ready to start blowing their fiber. We’ll have a few busy weeks of brushing these wooly girls out!
These girls were our first calves out of our first 2 Yak girls, Sally & Jane.
Now they run the program with the yearlings and get to enjoy keeping the younger bunch in line. They’re a little spicy, and extra cute!

Welcome to our new page & 205 Farms!

The last decade of our lives have been spent nomading around the states, trying on one shoe, and kicking it off to try the complete opposite. We've vacationed, chased dangerous money, lived alone, dreamed, prayed, grown, and changed. And now we are neck deep in a new adventure and would love to share it with you!

It all started on one afternoon sitting at the small little table in our RV on a sunny beach in California. It was a rough life listening to the ocean waves crash, the kids running wild on the beach, and just soaking up all of the January sun. We were dreaming of what came next. I had already went off the deep end and declared we were going to buy a cabin deep in the woods, off grid, somewhere where we had never even visited before. Certifiable yes, but hey we're adventurous, and maybe a little crazy for sure! So what came next, Levi saw an add on craigslist for Yaks and we just never looked back.

As we got settled in our amazing new life in the woods, we welcomed our first 2 Yaks, Sally & Jane. As you have it, my Husband brought me home my dream that day. Most farmers grow up with it, taking over the family business or altering it a little bit to make it their own. We didn't have that. We've literally pulled every step of this out of the air, just hoping that the next step we make is a good one, and if its not learning from it and moving past it!

Why Yaks?? They are amazing! I will begin sharing on here everything Yaks, the purpose behind them, everything amazing about them, and of course our favorites.

So here we are, we obviously have moved out of that dreamy new life we started in the mountains, but that's where this little story started, coming full circle right where our adventure started 15+ years ago. It's looking mighty different then it did all those years ago, but thats okay, because who knows what it will look like in another 10!

So here we are, Husband & Wife, party of 7, Jack & Anne of all trades, but really great at none! First generation doing our things a little bit different as "farmers."
We are doing it all; wheat farmers, home makers, yak ranchers, soap makers, fiber hacks, butchers, bread maker, garden tender, plant killer, home room teacher, animal whisperer, photographer, adventurers, ect, ect, ect... You get the picture. Were just not real great at any of it, and thats totally okay!

My goal is to bring everything back to the table as efficiently as possible and sharing with others what we know works. Cutting out the big guy, and figuring out how to make it all possible today just as it was 100 years ago. We're definitely not there yet, but I wont ever quit trying!

It can't be an adventure if you first just don't begin~
