May is Wedding Month!!

Today it’s time to remember Claire and Taylor! Happy 4 year anniversary! I remember seeing so many of these moments in real time and I hope these pictures always help you do as well - we loved celebrating with you!

5:09PM Sam and Stone and I arrive at the Argyle and we take a few clean classic portraits on the porch.

5:12PM. Caroline my second photographer has the bridal party on the staircase and works through a few remaining groups… I’m in the air with the drone grabbing a little dynamic light hitting take tops in the tent.

5:21PM. Drone down, controller pocketed… I spot the light on the walkway so we move through it hitting a few solo portraits, and a couple of different couple lighting looks.

5:29 PM. Back to details while the light holds.

What just happened? Twenty minutes, two photographers, a drone, group portraits, couple portraits, bridal portraits. Scene setters, reception details… every other member of the vendor team working on their piece of the puzzle…all of it running at the same time. All of it calm, stress free with a bit of humor mixed in. No one yelling or running around.

The photos wind up here and in your gallery and you can see what we made, but what you can’t see is everything that didn’t happen.

The chaos that wasn’t there. The moments that never felt rushed. Your guests felt the calm. Your parents felt it. You felt it… even if you couldn’t name it.

That’s the part that never shows up in an Instagram feed. But it’s the part that makes the difference.

The longer I do this, the more I realize making the images is the easy part. Finding a way to create these images and have it feel like a joyful and effortless experience is where my value lies.

With one of the most epic lightning storms in a while lighting up the sky in Dallas, the energy both inside and outside of the tent was something you could feel! Everyone from the guests, to the team, to the weather showed up last night to celebrate and make some noise. What a blessing to be a part of it!

Happy Earth Day. I have a lot of things to love about the incredible job I have as an artist and wedding photographer but at the top of the list are the places it takes me, the way it drives me to be outside in beautiful spaces and the way that reminds me of the unbelievable world we’ve been given.

Honored to be invited to be behind the lens for Engage! French Riviera at the Maybourne Riviera. An intimate group of the most talented people in this industry gathered on a cliffside above the Mediterranean overlooking Monte Carlo and we did what wedding people do best: connected, laughed, got inspired, and yes, we stayed out way too late more than once.

These four days were a reminder of why I love this industry. So grateful to Rebecca, Kathryn and Team Engage for including me.

I love telling stories. I love getting to witness moments that are important to people. I love seeing moments unfold in surprising ways and also in exactly the way you hope that they will. I get choked up at the thought of someone’s now grown children moving on into their own lives and I can’t help but hope for and fear that future for myself. I’ve held back tears at nearly every wedding I’ve photographed over the last 19 years. Sometimes I don’t win that battle. I love this purpose and calling I get to call work.
