Whether it's a clear shot or not, seeing this big guy is a treat! This is Bruno, with fresh wounds to his face from fighting.

He is well known in the Grand Tetons having mated with many female bears, leaving behind a legacy. Many years ago, I had a too close for comfort call with him when he was courting Blondie. It snowed inside the park on May 19. Snow can settle in as late as mid June. Always be prepared and bundle up!  #❄️🌨️

What a treat it was to watch this grizzly bear mama with three cubs. It was certainly the highlight of the day!

A legend like no other, Grizzly Bear #399 was the matriarch of the Grand Tetons. Though I only saw her five times starting with her visit to the valley in 2006, she is one of the reasons why we return to the Yellowstone Greater Ecosystem each year.

I had never seen a grizzly bear, not ever, not even in zoos. Wildlife Magazines? TV Nature Shows? Sure, but in the wild? Certainly not, and with three little cubs of the year, nonetheless! She taught me to be patient and avoid expectations. She taught me that discovery happens under the blue skies and on the green grass and in the deep woods. She taught me what being a wildlife advocate is all about.
