Engagement portraits do not have to feel like an hour-long audition for your wedding photos! 😉 I want the session to feel like the two of you, from the location and what you wear to the overall feel of the photos. There’s no prize for looking perfectly posed. I’d much rather make something that feels natural, connected, and actually like you.

If your friends will line up with matching fans and literally fan you into married life, I think you’ve chosen your people pretty well!

I love details like this: personalized, a little over-the-top in the best way, and impossible to mistake for anybody else’s day.

The polished portraits matter, but so do the things that make your wedding actually look and feel like yours. I’ll happily take both.

Not every wedding story starts on the wedding day.

Some wedding photos are on the shot list. Others are gifts from the universe. 😅

At some point, every reception seems to reach the stage where the dance floor develops its own cast of characters, and suddenly somebody in a cowboy hat is absolutely having their moment.

I love finding moments like this while I’m watching what’s happening around the edges of a wedding day. Of course I’m there for the first kiss, family photos, cake cutting and all the other things you know you want. But I’m also watching for the expressions, weird little interactions, questionable dance-floor decisions, and whatever gold is happening here. 😂

Because ten years later, I have a feeling this is the kind of photo that gets brought up at family gatherings.

There’s something very special about having this many people you love in the same place at the same time. ❤️

Family formals may only take up a small part of a wedding day, but they have a funny way of becoming some of the photos that matter most as the years go by.

That's why I take them seriously, while also trying very, very hard not to make them take all afternoon (and I promise, they won't). ;)

We’ll make the important family photo list ahead of time, get everybody where they need to be, straighten the things that need straightening, and move through it as efficiently as we can.

Then everybody gets released back into the wild for cocktail hour.

Not every important wedding photo has to be spontaneous. Sometimes the value is simply having parents, grandparents, siblings, kids, extended family and old friends all together in one frame while you have the chance!

I care a lot about the photos I deliver, of course, but I care just as much about how people feel while I’m there. I want couples to feel listened to, taken care of, and able to actually enjoy their wedding instead of feeling like they’re spending the whole day working for the camera.
