I have the coolest couples (part 2/3)

Finally letting out all the emotion of the ceremony in that first embrace as husband and wife. Featuring one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken 🥹

I have the coolest couples (part 1/2)

Quietly getting ready together in a historic lodge. Waving hi to all their friends and family staying in vintage trailers on property. Down for anything. So happy to just be together. What a gift, what a gift to be a part of days like this.

THIS DAY! These two!! A quiet and tender sorta love. A sunny fall Portland day (because somehow I magically have the best luck with weather). When I think about days that felt like a giant exhale—full of serenity and joy—I think about Sydney & Matthew 🥹

2016! One of my favorite years of my life forever.

I’d been a full time photographer for 3 years, and I’d just moved across the country to Oregon “for a year.” (lol I’m still here)

The lens was tilt-shift, the presets were vsco. I felt cool as hell dragging the black slider as dark and deep as my moody little self desired.

I married the loml that September and made him my full time second shooter while he finished grad school. We lived in a 450 sq. foot studio, and life felt like one big slumber party.

I traveled for 90% of my work and reeeally bought into the hustle culture of the day, saying yes to *everything*. I started hosting workshops with my bestie because, why wouldn’t we?! The self belief was strong. The imposter syndrome was irrelevant. 😂

I used to look back at that version of me and cringe just a lil, but now I just feel so so grateful for her frenetic energy and determination that created this life and business that is exactly what she wanted.

2016, ilysm 🥰

In 2025 I grew a whole human while somehow keeping this business boomin’, so I am entering 2026 with a hundred million feelings of gratitude/sleepiness/relief/elation/etc. you get it.

I’m letting this new year in with open hands and absolutely zero hustle, and if you need validation from a stranger to just coast away from the culture of the grind, here is your permission slip ☻

I’m am unfortunately cursed (blessed) with a very powerful case of sentimentality. When I see you after your wedding day, I will reminisce about your 90-year-old grandma who couldn’t escape the dance floor & the way your brother had everyone in tears during his speech. Your first dance song plays in my head while I edit, and I go home and tell Johnny how another mother-son dance made me teary eyed (again).

It’s rarest of gifts, to connect with others like this through my work. And I mean it when I say I don’t take a single second of it for granted.

It’s why I’m here, and it’s why I will probably always be here—looking for meaning in the ways our lives intertwine and finding it every time.

If I were to describe the perfect day, it’s this.

Wandering around the island on a surprisingly sunny afternoon, stopping on the cliffside and exploring fields of lavender. Then, joining their family and closest friends to watch them get married in the shadow of the lighthouse (with an orca sighting!!).

And finally, dinner al fresco as the sun set over the harbor.

Slow, intentional. Perfect.

AND i had the honor of getting to photograph these two again earlier this week on the oregon coast. So so much to be grateful for ❤️
