Summer smiles ☀️
Sooooo that state park we went to two weekends ago…. We drove over 3 hours to get there just to be told they were at capacity! I’ve never been turned away from a state park before even without a reservation. Needless to say, we will always make reservations going forward 😂
Not all was lost though, we found a lovely, and pretty large, park up the road and hiked there!
Are you a reservation type or just show up type?!

Happiest lost on a trail in the mountains
Cant wait to take this little mountain goat out this weekend! Although it won’t be trails in Colorado or slot canyons in Utah, it’ll be nice to load up and hit the road!

I felt this photo matched my current mood perfectly. Trying to look ahead while surrounded by storm clouds. I spoke about stress and how we all handle it last week and truly don’t want to focus on the negative. I’m simply in a funk. While I can’t explain exactly what’s going on, I’m giving myself the grace to work through it. You don’t have to have an answer or explanation all the time. Sometimes sitting in your silence is enough. And for me, this week, it’ll have to be 🤍

Okay I have to have my curiosity cured: are you a physical book reader or a kindle reader? Do you think listening to an audiobook counts as reading?
For me, I love holding a book in my hard and hearing the turning of the pages. I love the smell of old books that have been loved and touched through the years. However, the ease and convenience of the kindle has been my go to since being pregnant with Maddie. And I personally don’t think audiobooks should count 😂😂

Swimming in the colors of summer!!!
We’ve made plans to do a day hike next weekend and I’m SO excited to get out and explore! It’ll be a bit hectic I’d guess with a new pup and a toddler but I can’t wait to start doing more of the things I love and sharing that with the whole fam! This weekend we’re keeping it low key since dog dad was on call two weeks in a row.

King of the mountain or mountain goat?
I always love watching Bandit explore unknown terrain. He’s so fluid with his movements, almost like he’s gliding instead of heavy paw prints. Mako on the other hand is very bouncy and almost side steps his back end like a crab. It’s so cool to watch the similarities between them.. but in the same instant their differences are so loud. I think I’m just still in awe of how well they meshed with each other. I can’t wait to take them both out on an epic adventure to see how they explore the trails together!
Do your pups share any similarities or are they completely different?!

I need a roadtrip soooo badly I can taste it! We’re trying to figure out anniversary plans for November but I think I need to squeeze in a quick little getaway with the boys! Fingers crossed I can make something work!

The thrill of the hike… not
I’ve come to realize I do not enjoy the physical hardship that comes from hiking. The elevation in Colorado, which is where we usually go, is so hard on me. Granted I’m out of shape… but I’m also such an impatient person. I want to hurry up and get to the spot to enjoy it. I want to soak up as much time at the destination that I get annoyed at how long it takes. This photo is not a glorified summit photo. It’s me wanting to kill .collie yet again for some long ass hike that’s killing me. Yet, this very true moment caught in time is a gem. In this moment she captured Bandit and I soaking in the sights of where we were going and how far we had already gone. She captured me wondering why I put myself through this… knowing very well the answer to that is standing at the end of my leash. Idk… just my little reminder to not get so caught up in the destination that you miss out on all that’s directly in front of you 🤍
