Golden hour hits different over Buffalo Mountain. Beautiful evening view taking in the Choctaw Hospital, the Travel Plaza, and the quiet, fenced-off grounds of the former Veterans Center.

Catching a direct hit during a heavy sheet lightning storm is basically impossible.⚡⛈️

Managed to land this clean bolt below a sheet, right before midnight—looks like it touched down somewhere around Falfa or Buffalo Valley. Second pic was just a cool shot.

Looks like Mother Nature got impatient this year! 🙄 These trees are apparently so thirsty they’re changing colors already, skipping right over the 'lush green' phase. It's like they're trying to speed-run through fall before September even starts. 😂

We’re all hoping for a beautiful scenic drive season, but the way things are going, the leaves might be ground cover before the peak arrives. Remember, Talihina relies on that awesome tourism boost from the Talimena Drive, so let's all collectively do a rain dance for our thirsty forest friends! 🌧️ 🍂

It's cooking you if you're outside. Drink water and do not start a fire for any reason, even if your county isn't in a burn ban.

Leflore, Push, and Haskell counties have burn bans. This was Pittsburg County, where there is no burn ban. Common sense is better than the government taking care of you, so please hold off burning until we get some much-needed rain.

I checked airspace with the FlightAware app prior to launch. I went straight up and straight down since I was not in contact with firefighters. Pic was taken using 3x optical zoom from a mile away.
