Storms rolling through Talihina this afternoon. You can see the Talihina Water Tower to the right of the storm. Would have been interesting to be on the Talihina Scenic Drive during this one.

Caught this incredible lightning strike tonight as the storm rolled into Talihina, looking directly South. There is nothing quite like watching Mother Nature put on a show from above!

Now that construction on this phase of the Choctaw complex is done, we wanted to share a look at how much things have changed!

🏢 Out with the old, in with the new:
The old Alco building has been remodeled into the new Choctaw Optometrist office and the Health Clinic (formerly next to the Community Center), with what looks like a warehouse space in the back.

🏋️‍♂️ A total upgrade:
Right next door, where the grocery store once stood, there’s now a beautiful, brand-new Choctaw Fitness Center!

Moving to Talihina from out of state usually involves a bit of a "culture shock" double-header: getting used to life in the quiet stretches of the country and, of course, earning your keep with the locals.

Taylor Bookman didn’t just move here; he showed up with a vision. He brought in Dave Shaw and his crew to build a stunning cabin and hit the ground running with top-tier guided hunts. Taylor and the Buffalo Mountain Retreat have already become a big part of the community, recently donating two Guided Turkey Hunts to the Talihina Chamber of Commerce / Visitors Center banquet auction. Whether it’s supporting our military or the local youth, Taylor is consistently stepping up.
