Another UVA graduation in the books. I have photographed Alana numerous times during UVA polo matches including the game that made her and her teammmates national champions. It was bittersweet to shoot her graduation pictures, feeling happy for her to have reached this milestone but I will also miss seeing her play in the intercollegiate games.

This was a refreshingly entertaining photo shoot with Carlie, where I played with colors and light in a darker setting to match the dancing videos Carlie is posting on her IG account . She is also a welder so to me this photo session gave out some serious Flashdance vibes!🤩

I have known Gabriela since she was in forth grade so when she asked me to do her UVA graduation photos I had that short moment when I asked myself where did the time go? She wanted to have her boyfriend join in since he is also graduating this year from UVA and the shoot turned into this fun session with lots of giggles :)). Congratulations to both of you and good luck with grad school!

I recently photographed a family and they surprised me when they dressed their little girl in a traditional Romanian costume specific to a a northern region of the country called Maramureș. Yes, the family is Romanian but it was such a treat to see this beautiful little girl wearing her outfit so proudly. 💕🇷🇴.

The Sentinel looks beautiful in any weather. I love the fog behind it because it draws all the attention from the background to the tree that has stood there for so long with its roots weaving through the rocks. It is an example of resilience against bad weather, strong winds and also ignorant and selfish people attempting to leave their marks on this stoic tree. It has survived a lot and standing next to it it’s really a source of inspiration because 2024 is not and won’t be my favorite year.

Fall has come and now it is almost gone. I encountered this lovely view a couple of weeks ago at the entrance of Sherando Lake Park. I hope this image brings you a little peace as it did to me 🍂🍁🌞.

I have noticed something strange in my forties. I don't care about being in pictures as much as I used to and it is to the detriment of capturing memories with my loved ones. The same applies to many women around me who are over forty. We are so hard on ourselves, we expect to have the same physical appearance from a decade ago and no matter how much we are being told by our friends or family that we are beautiful we somehow refuse to believe it.
As a photographer and friend, I encountered this situation many times. Gorgeous, powerful women, exuding confidence and yet somewhat insecure about being photographed.
I even did a bit of research and found out that at the age of 40, men are four times more likely to post selfies on social media than women. And I have a feeling that applies to pictures in general, and not just selfies.
So I started a personal project of creating portraits of women over forty that shows the beauty of this current stage of life I am in along with many of my friends. Allison was kind enough to agree to be the first subject of this series and we had a ton of fun shooting these pictures.
So here it is: "Women over 40". :)

This is another animal with a fascinating story that belongs to one of my clients. His name is Galopin and is a Canadian Horse (that’s the breed). He used to belong to a Canadian TV producer, Richard Blackburn, who wanted to raise awareness about the endangerment of this specific horse breed. There are only 5000 Canadian Horses worldwide and 2000 in Canada. In order to achieve his goal Richard Blackburn rode his Canadian Horses for 2700 miles from Quebec to Texas. His partner and co-producer, Louise Leroux, filmed the whole journey in a documentary titled “La Legende du Cheval Canadien” - The Legend of the Canadian Horse. And yes, Galopin was one of the two horses that did the trek from Canada to Texas. He is retired now and lives his golden years at a farm in Earlysvillle, just outside Charlottesville.💕

It’s freezing rain outside and I am ready for spring. I shot this image a couple of years ago in the woods behind our old house. Now the trees are all gone to make room for another subdivision of townhomes.😞

My images capturing the UVA win at the polo national championships were published in the latest edition of Virginia Wine and Country -Life magazine. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to capture such happy moments. I am also honored that the magazine added me as a contributor among other accomplished photographers in our state. 💕
