Goodbye, my small, steady light.
You were there
in the quiet mornings,
in the long nights
when sleep would not come.
A soft weight on my chest,
a purr stitching my heart together.
I never imagined
how empty arms could feel.
When your eyes grew tired,
I saw the farewell forming.
I held you close
and whispered love
like it was a promise
I could keep.
Your last breath
left gentlyβ
mine did not.
Now the rooms echo differently.
Sunlight feels misplaced.
Goodbye is a fragile sound
for something this vast.
You were my comfort,
my constant,
my home.
And I will miss you
longer than words can hold.
