Just got back from a family trip out west. A Sedona, Vegas and LA excursion. Since it was a family trip I did not bring any of my equipment. I did however shoot with a DXO One attached to my iPhone. I borrowed it from a co-worker. http://www.dxo.com/us/dxo-one This little attachment shoots a 20mg image along with raws and Jpegs. It attaches directly to the lighting slot on the iPhone and makes the phone the view finder. It can be a little quirky but it takes really good images especially portraits. It can be used in fully automatic mode or any other manual mode that photographers like to use. This was taken on a trail behind the hotel we were staying at. The beauty of the mountains there was overwhelming. Definitely will get back there to do some shooting. Click to see larger. Facebook images never seem to look good small. Thanks for looking.

One of the cool things that happens when hiking through Ricketts Glenn is hearing the falls get louder as you approach and when they come into sight through the trees. In trying to find a different way to shoot the falls I found a spot seeing through the trees and catching sight of a beautiful set of falls.

I just got back from an overnight camping trip and 2 day shoot with Dean Cobin at Ricketts Glenn State Park. I've been going to Ricketts for years and its been a while since I've seen a heavy water flow there. It opened up some opportunities this go around to create some really exciting long exposures of the waterfalls. After spending a Saturday night of camping with Leigh at Goshen Pond I got up early the next morning and caught some subtle color and quiet beauty of the pond. Goshen Pond is part of Wharton State Forest which is part of the NJ Pine Barrens.

For something a little different. I made a trip up to Valley of Fire State Park which is about an hour outside of Las Vegas. I've been waiting for an opportunity to go there for a long time and it didn't disappoint.This was a small slot off the Rainbow Canyon trail and it ended up in a beautiful open area surround by tall red and yellow rock formations. We shot at multiple dune locations throughout the park. This was early morning at Mesquite Dunes. It a bit of a hike in the dark to get out there and then it becomes a race to find a composition as the light begins to show. Dune shooting is fun but harder than it looks.

Just got back from a trip out west to Death Valley and Valley of Fire with Dean Cobin. Another great photo trip that had great light every morning and night. This was taken at Devils Golf course in Death Valley. We hung out late while everyone else left except for another photographer from Wisconsin. What we saw was an incredible light show as the setting sun was low behind the snow covered mountains. The yellow light bouncing off the clouds and onto the mountains was amazing. More to come.

Caught up with Gregory DeAngelis at a Fly Fishing Tournament. Greg didn't have the day I'm sure he was hoping for but just being outside in the water and fishing I'm sure made up for the results. It was a lot of fun shooting.

I went out this morning to shoot sunrise and fall colors at Round Valley. Safe to say that in this neck of the woods there will be no great color this year. Disappointed as the sun started to come up I headed out of the park and stopped to give it one last look. Maybe I'm missing something. While I never found what I had set out to do, I noticed how the hazy sunlight was lighting up the lake. Next thing I know somebody walks out to the point. Everything fell together.I was able to capture about 10 shots before he left.

Quick run up to Harriman state Park with Dean Cobin. Way more color than I was anticipating. Early in the morning I found this grouping of beautifully backlit trees with intense bushes below. I suspect next week the colors go up another notch. Thanks for viewing.
