I have so many thoughts on this new article. Adding Fibbing to Fight, Flight, Freeze and Fawn - my own personal jury is out on it but I Love the reframe. I remember the relief I got from small fibs as a little kid, and I definitely see that in certain family members, including my little guys! To see it as a way to fit in, buy more time, and not disappoint feels like a subsection of Fawn. And, on this day, January 6th, this article might speak to some of the allies leaders tell us and the lies we tell ourselves in the ‘Don’t look up’ mode. Definitely speaks to accountability. (Or maybe even fawn or please/appease?). We all feel this on social media, in relationship, parenting, work. We didn’t see great examples of this in the trial this week, but forward we go . -And back I go into the work of Brene Brown, Deb Dana, Jane Clapp, and so many other greats that play with this question for the next ethics and boundaries class. (And thank you, Cornel West.).
