I'm shooting an engagement session today and I've been thinking about past ones I've been lucky to photograph. This is an especially memorable one from the Park of Roses. Such a sweet couple -- and I love this shot from in front of the fountain.

Occasionally, I like to edit one photo in different styles. I originally converted this image to black and white, but something about it seemed incomplete. I realized today that it was missing a cinematic vibe. Something retro and grainy with colors reminiscent of an old film cel. So I sat down at my computer and created this.

It was freezing. It was snowing. And through it all, this grad smiled and posed and we created photos like this!

I'm in Nashville for the Professional Photographers of America's annual convention and trade show, Imaging USA! I look forward to it all year -- it's an opportunity for me to learn from and network with other photographers from around the country and to stay current on trends and learn new skills!

I drove down yesterday and photographed one of Nashville's most recognizable buildings: the Parthenon at Centennial Park. From there, I went to Broadway -- the H***y Tonk Highway, as it's known, to do some street photography as well. I wasn't disappointed!

I took this year’s card in my living room, glowing with lights, trees, and evergreen garland. The cookies are arranged on a Jadeite dessert plate, paired with a glass of milk and a note letting Santa know the treats are *definitely* for him.

I wanted “Santa” to feature prominently in the image — and to look like it came straight from a child’s hand — so I recruited my four-year-old neighbor, Sam. He accepted the assignment with great seriousness and enthusiasm. The second photo captures him diligently practicing his letters, determined to get them just right.

And now that you’ve seen the card, I thought you'd also want to see the small but mighty hand letterer who helped bring it to life:

Favorite color: Black (very chic)
Favorite food: Pizza and ramen.
Favorite animals: Cat, hamster, mouse, koala, and duck (an excellent lineup)
Favorite shows: Siren videos and documentaries about Big Ben (yes, that Big Ben — in England)
Favorite game: Hungry Hippos
Christmas wish: One stuffed koala, please 🐨

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season and happy, healthy new year!

Cemeteries are unique locations -- especially for portraits -- but they provide a spectacular backdrop that enhances an image. This senior specifically requested to be photographed here and I'm confident no one in her graduating class took photos like these!

Those late-summer senior photos hit different, right? We had plenty of beautiful light to work with on this day -- and this guy did a great job!
