We kicked off the Class of 2027 senior sessions this past weekend at a brand-new location. For this senior who loves the lake, it was the perfect spot!

One of the top questions you might have when planning a session is “What locations will we shoot at?” The answer to that actually depends on a few factors:

1. Your personality: if you are a nature girl at heart like this senior, your locations will be outside in the warm sun surrounded by greenery and blooms. You can frolic in the fields and walk trails of tall grass! If you’re more of a city girl, we’ll shoot in concrete jungles, with modern architecture, and downtown styles. If you like both of these, we can do both!

2. Your style: I love to match my clients’ outfits to locations for a cohesive look! If your outfit screams night out on the town, we’ll likely shoot in a more modern downtown location. Wearing a billowy maxi dress? We’re shooting in the fields! It just makes sense!

3. Light: One of the most important things I consider as your photographer is how the light will fall on you in each location. The background may look great but if the light doesn’t hit you in a flattering way, we’ll adjust to make sure you look your best!

Elise wanted to go downtown for this part of her session and I love the urban looks we captured at Piatt Park and with Cincinnati's iconic Roebling Bridge.

When we plan your senior session, we'll talk about different ways that you can add variety to your photos. Using contrasting locations is a great way to do that. I photographed Elise in a field of wildflowers last fall so this urban session was a great addition to her gallery.

Perks of Splitting Your Senior Session – Did you know that when you choose an Ultimate or Deluxe In Lovely Light Senior Session, you get the option to split your session into two separate dates? I love it when seniors do this! Here’s why:

1.) Variety of Seasons – Having your sessions in two different seasons adds so much variety to your photos. Do you love spring flowers but also love fall colors? You can have both!

2.) Variety of Looks – Wearing different hairstyles, makeup or nail looks is much easier when you do your session on two separate dates.

3.) More Time to Plan – When your sessions are spread out over several months, it gives you more time to really think about the types of photos you want us to capture.

These are just a few of the reasons I love it when seniors split their sessions!

This year the frost got to the magnolia trees before we could catch them so we were very grateful that Blooms & Berries opened their beautiful Tulip Trail for the first time!
