Got lucky with a few clouds at our Great Smoky Mountains workshop a few weeks ago! With a lot of clear skies to start the workshop, we still got lucky with some clouds and mist popping up in some of the valleys!

Choosing a landscape photography workshop can be stressful! It takes putting your trust in an instructor and experience to not only learn more about your camera and the craft of landscape photography, but have a good time doing it!

Testimonials can help you make that choice. I just updated my testimonials page with what people are saying after a series of one-on-ones and multi-day workshops - check them out!

Testimonials from happy clients who attended one of Jeffrey Tadlock Photography's landscape photograph workshops.

Have you had the chance to check out my ebook, Trail-Ready: A Hiking Guide for Landscape Photographers? This ebook aims to help you get more comfortable outdoors so you can pursure your landscape photography.

Over years of leading workshops, I've come to realize that not everybody came to the hobby the same path I did. Many picked up a camera first, then wanted to get outside and start photographing landscapes.

This guide will help you:

✳️ Prepare for hikes with realistic expectations
✳️ Choose gear that supports safety and comfort
✳️ Understand terrain challenges and stay weather-aware
✳️ Make conservative go / no-go decisions in the field

A practical hiking guide for landscape photographers focused on trail preparation, safety, navigation, weather awareness, and confident outdoor decision-making.

Reach. Another image from my recent Smoky Mountains trip. This was taken on the last morning there when the fog settled in beautifully - almost TOO much fog for photos! (Why do landscape photographers never think the conditions are just right?)

With the fog still heavy, the stark, skeletal structure of this tree and how it looked like it was reaching for something was what gave me pause.

Another great trip to the Smokies, I'll be back this fall!

Played a lot with some black and white photography while in the Smokies. Usually when I use black and white I photographed the scene with a color profile and then convert it later in post-processing.

On this trip I found myself switching my camera color profile to black and white so I could see the scene that way while I composed and took the shot.

You'll probably be seeing some more black and whites from the Smokies in the coming weeks!

If you want to edit your landscape photos, but quickly get overwhelmed with more advanced editing videos, I think this one is for you!

In this video I use a simple workflow only using global edits to take a file from an unprocessed raw file to a final edited image. I purposely avoid using any masks or complicated techniques to demonstrate just how much you can do with a few basic panels in Adobe Lightroom.

In this video, I walk through a simple Lightroom workflow for landscape photography and show how to edit a RAW photo in Adobe Lightroom without getting pulle...

Did you miss signing up for my webinar on Weather Planning for Landscape Photography with Windy?

Weather is an important factor for landscape photographers - both from helping us be in the right place a the right time, as well as staying safe out there!

In the webinar I covered:

✳️ My general workflow for using Windy
✳️ The layers I pay the most attention to
✳️ Discussion of models like ECMWF, GFS, NAM, and HRRR
✳️ How I think about model comparison and agreement

I do have the recording available on my Patreon page for a nominal fee to access. And if you watch the webinar over on Patreon, I am happy to answer questions in the comments over there!

I was down in Hocking Hills earlier today for a one-on-one session. I knew this person from past workshops, which makes it more like seeing a friend than a photography workshop.

Either way, I don't like to hover during a session as it is good to encourage people to explore and not steer them towards compositions I know or tend to favor. So in those in-between times I like to take my camera out and experiment a little. Because I like to stay mobile, I tend to shoot handheld which lets me move about and be readily available for the person I am working with.

This morning the light was hitting the flowing water in the creek from one of my favorite waterfalls. It made for some nice abstract images, this was one of my favorites.
