A Dromedary Camel skull, also known as Arabian Camels, holds the distinction of being the tallest camel species globally, characterized by a singular hump. This specimen, a prized addition to my collection, has been in my possession for several years, originating from a zoo.

The collections collide! My plant and bone collections have grown substantially, many traveling through many moves. Over these years, I've been learning how to better care and learn each individual plant's needs and signals. Watching each plant grow and change is like a tangible passage of time. My hoya carnosa even bloomed for me again this summer!

One of my favorite additions to my domestic dog collection last in 2023 was this big guy. This pup was found deceased on the side of an interstate road by .alexandra.96, and after unsuccessful attempts to find his owner, his skull was cleaned and stained, and now he will stay in my collection.

An interesting feature about this pup is that he has an extra front tooth on the top right quadrant (which appears to be top left in the picture). This condition is called Hyperdontia or Polyodontia, meaning extra teeth. Typically, dogs have 12 incisors, which are the front teeth between their canines. These teeth help with nibbling or in wild dogs, stripping meat off of bones.

Finally finished up this interesting wolf skull. In addition to the boney nodule on the cranium, a premolar tooth (308) was missing on the left mandible, and a premolar tooth (406) is turned sideways on the right mandible.

*Teeth numbered using the modified Triadan system since wolves have the same teeth as dogs

A couple wry nose coyotes! "Wry nose" is typically a condition present at birth. Interestingly, one of the coyotes also has an additional cranial injury.

Happy Egg Day! Eggs can come in a variety of colors, sizes and even textures! Here's a variety of (legal)* blown eggs from various species.

Smallest to largest: Button Quail, Coturnix Quail, Chukar Partridge, Peahen (female Peacock), Domestic Goose, Turkey, Emu, Rhea and Ostrich(middle).

*The Migratory Bird Treaty Act prohibits ownership of eggs from protected migratory birds

Added a couple new additions recently! shark jaw gifted to me from a friend() :) and a baby striped skunk, found drowned in a field after their den flooded due to heavy rains. Really not sure why the enamel eroded off the teeth during processing, but interesting.

Got a neat little display cube for my pathological striped skunk. Above is a typical specimen, and normal jaw bones displayed in the cube as well for comparison. I'm not sure what caused this extensive lesion, but it impacted each tooth down to the roots.
