There’s just something magical about exchanging vows by a waterfall. I love ones like this in the San Juan Mountains that aren’t super loud but provide the perfect natural soundtrack to your vows. What an immersive experience!

Being in nature is powerful. And it’s one of the many things I love of photographing couples who choose nature over ballrooms on their wedding day. You get to be still, you get to connect, you get to be filled with wonder. Go ahead, feel the sun on your skin, breathe the fresh air, be filled with joy and excitement as you start your marriage together.

There is nothing like exchanging private vows, especially in nature with no one around. I love when couples choose to make memories for just them. It gives them the freedom to say everything on their heart. Freedom to not worry about anyone but each other. Freedom to be your truest selves.
Even if you are including family and friends on your Colorado elopement, I think every couple should carve out time to make memories that are just yours.

5 You want privacy. Eloping allows you to be somewhere secluded and make memories that you just for you
4 You want to be somewhere beautiful. When it’s just the 2 of you, you can get to some of the best views without having to pay a premium
3 You can be you. You can do all the things that you love to do together without having to worry about entertaining anyone else.
2 You want the flexibility that comes with it. Eloping gives you the chance to adventure and have way less time restraints than a traditional wedding.
1 You want to. You know in your heart this is going to allow you to have the best wedding day experience for your personality.

Why hike on your wedding day? I get that it’s not for everyone and that’s okay! But for those of you who enjoy spending time together in this way, let me just say it’s such a great way to take full advantage of your Colorado elopement experience:

-You get to be away from it all, free from tight timelines and guest’s expectations
-You can slow down. Breath fresh air, take a longer moment at a gorgeous view, get a chance to take in what matters most.
-You get to get married in breathtaking places, and it feels extra amazing that together you overcame the difficulty of the path to get there.
-You get to connect with nature and embrace all its unexpected curveballs.
-Working out makes you feel good, it’s science 😜
-Most importantly, it allows you two to connect. To do something you enjoy together. Creating memories that are only yours.
You don’t have to hike on your elopement, and there are plenty of other ways to make it personal to you. But for you hiking couples out there…this is your sign to go for it!
