"I love being able to fully step into a character. Because what I deal with every day doesn't really matter at the point I step on the stage. I can just be someone completely different and then see how the audience responds to that, whether I'm drawing out laughter or crying or whatever. I really love being able to step into that."

"My family got involved because we were part of a homeschool group that met on Friday in Lockwood's space. Christ-Centered Home Educators, it was called. You didn't have to be part of any denomination, just sign a statement of belief. I appreciated, coming here, that in the elder board you had people from a Brethren background, a Presbyterian background--the pastor Shane had a Missionary Alliance background, I believe. Some have called our church more inter-denominational than non-denominational."

"This archway here is the very entrance of the original church. The church has been here at this point over 150 years. They added the middle building, which was then a little bit larger sanctuary, sometime in the 60s or 70s, I've been told. And the new santuary, where we meet now, was built about 20 years ago--before that they were meeting three times a Sunday just to fit everyone in."

"Even as a teenager, in the youth group I attended, I was really drawn to the idea of ministry. There was a youth pastor that just seemed to preach and shoot it straight with you, wasn't afraid to touch on hard topics, but was also very relatable. When my family and I first came here, we came just as persons filling the seat like anyone else, but eventually I applied for one of the positions that came open, and I feel blessed to be here."

"I came to Coldwater back in 1994, because of a cute girl I'd met at my college in South Carolina. And I came out here, and while I was meeting her parents, her dad asked me if I wanted to help him with the church they were starting. So I did. The year I came out here, that one guy on the radio who would go 'that's the ressssst of the story...' Paul Harvey, I think his name was? He said that Coldwater was the fastest-growing city in America."
