This page has been very quiet for a long time 🫢 but I’ve been busy with my primary career- natural resources. My specialty is native plants and native plant community classification. Of course I’m still photographing the beautiful world around me! It has obviously been a stellar year (no pun intended 😉) for the aurora borealis. Here are four of my favorite aurora shots from the past couple months. The first two are from Voyageurs National Park where I was doing backcountry botanical work, and the second two are from close to my home during the geomagnetic storm of the century❗️night before last.

Big congratulations to Duluth’s Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin on becoming United States Mixed Doubles Champions again! 🥇🥇This means these 2023 Mixed Doubles World Champions get to try for a second world title! What a year for these two, with them winning National Championships three weeks ago with their respective 4-person teams as well! I really look forward to cheering them on during all three world championships they will be part of.

I wish I had photos of their mixed doubles curling, but I will have to put that on my photography bucket list. Here are two photos from their most recent national championship games. 😊

It’s pretty quiet now, but in a week and a half the DECC Arena will be hoppin’! Or should I say rockin’?? 🥌🥌🥌🥌 I’m very excited to be photographing the US Curling National Championship January 27th through February 2nd. I popped in today to see what the lighting situation was, which is of course very important for photography. This is going to be a fantastic venue and location. I hope many of you curling fans in and near Minnesota are making plans to attend!
