I spotted this beautiful Little Blue Heron perched quietly among the branches of a coastal Buttonwood tree. I love how his deep slate-blue feathers and rich burgundy head contrast with the warm, autumn-like colors of the foliage behind him. (Don't be fooled, the weather is anything BUT autumn like)

Little Blue Herons are fairly common here on Florida’s Space Coast, but that doesn’t make moments like this any less special. Sometimes the best wildlife photos happen when you simply slow down and notice what’s sitting right in front of you. 🐦💙

This morning, I had the incredible opportunity to watch SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy roar into the sky carrying NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. 🚀🔭✨

Living on Florida’s Space Coast, I’ve been lucky enough to see my share of rocket launches—but there is something about seeing a massive rocket climb into the sky that never gets old.

And this launch gave me two very different moments to photograph. The first was the Falcon Heavy climbing away from Earth, with that incredible plume stretching behind it. The second was watching one of the boosters make its controlled return to Earth.

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will eventually help us explore some of the biggest questions in astronomy, including dark energy, dark matter, and the evolution of our universe. 🌌

I may be a wildlife photographer most of the time… but living here means sometimes the wildlife has to share the sky with a rocket. 😉🚀
