Someone recently asked me why I have forget-me-nots on my business card, and honestly, there’s more meaning behind that little detail than people might realize.

Forget-me-nots have always felt special to me because of what their name represents: don’t forget me.

I’ve always been someone who holds onto people, memories, little moments, and the things that other people might overlook. I know how quickly life changes. People grow, relationships change, seasons end, and sometimes all we have left are the memories we made.

That’s a huge part of why I love photography.

I don't just want to take pictures of people. I want to give them something they can look back on years from now and still feel something. I want to capture the laugh, the connection, the little look between two people, the personality that makes someone who they are.

So those little forget-me-nots on my card are my reminder of why I do this in the first place.

Because every person has a story worth remembering. Every soul has something worth holding onto.

And that's what Donkey Soul Photography means to me:

Why “Donkey Soul Photography”?

I get asked sometimes why I chose Donkey Soul Photography instead of simply putting my own name on my business.

The truth is… because this business was never meant to be just about me. ❤️

I wanted a name that represented the heart behind what I do.

Donkeys have always held a special place in my heart. There is something about them that feels safe, gentle, patient, and completely unapologetic about being exactly who they are. And honestly, those are the same feelings I want people to experience when they step in front of my camera.

I don't want you to feel like you have to pose perfectly, look perfect, or pretend to be something you're not.

I want you to feel safe enough to be yourself.

Because when I photograph you, I'm not just taking pictures of faces. I'm capturing the little pieces of someone's soul—the laughter, the love, the connection, the messy moments, the quiet moments, and everything in between.

That's where Donkey Soul came from.

And “Where every soul matters” isn't just a tagline.

It's the reason behind the name.
It's the reason behind the camera.
And it's the reason I do what I do. 🤎

So no, you won't find my name plastered across the business.

I think this photo pretty much sums me up. 😂🫏

Give me a camera, a donkey, and a little sunshine… and apparently I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. ☀️📸

There’s just something about donkeys that makes you slow down, laugh, and forget about everything else for a minute.

And maybe that’s what I love most about photography too — capturing the moments that feel like you. The real ones. The imperfect ones. The ones you’ll look back on and smile.

That’s the kind of photography I want to create.

🫏📸 I know it’s been a little quiet around here…

And honestly, I’ve missed this.

Donkey Soul Photography has never just been about taking pretty pictures. It’s about the souls behind them. The people. The stories. The love. The laughter. The little moments that seem ordinary today but become priceless years from now.

Life gets busy. Seasons change. Sometimes we get so caught up in simply getting through the days that we forget to stop and capture the people who make those days worth living.

That’s where I want Donkey Soul to come in.

I want to give you photographs that feel like you. Not perfect. Not overly posed. Not something that could belong to anyone.

✨ A little business update! ✨

Life is bringing some exciting changes, and I’m so grateful to share that I’ll be starting a new Monday–Friday schedule. With that change comes a new rhythm for Donkey Soul Photography—but don’t worry, I’m still here and still creating. 📸🐴

I’ll now be focusing my photography sessions on evenings and weekends, which means I’ll have dedicated time to continue capturing the moments that mean the most to you.

Whether it’s family memories, milestones, couples, seniors, pets, or just a moment in life you want frozen forever, I would love to be the one behind the camera.
