♥️♥️♥️
i have some of the most generous people in my life- split ear has earned her place here at the farm. She has provided us with years & years of healthy calves, and will reside her final years with us. It’s not the normal but split ear has also earned a place in my heart. She is the cow who runs the quickest down the hill when she hears my pickup coming up the driveway. The first cow to sound the alarm to the other cows when I start the tractor to feed, and last but not least- the cow i always sneak out to clean up the grass around the driveway.
The past year has been weird. We lost our herd mascot “Tony” to cancer. He was the cow who did all the alpha animal things around here, despite the fact that he was only a steer. I bought Tony when he was 24 hours old in the auction house. He was 15 years old when he was put to rest. The property hasn’t been the same without him, but it made me grow closer to Splitear, and i am so thankful for that.
Our neighbors took this photo a few years back, after a few days of rain. But I dropped off a meat order tonight & received this framed photo of my favorite girl. She may be one of the oldest cows here on the farm, and she may be one of the meanest ( to those who don’t greet her with donuts) but she will always be my favorite cow 🤍 plus she sits like a dog, who doesn’t love her
