Our Story
My work often addresses things such as, the self, intimacy, companionship, gender, and a persons physical and mental existence within their space. Most recently my emphasis has been evolving into a study of the body as an object. My recent works, such as The Female Gaze and Affinity & Twain, have focused on photographing people, and is what I am most passionate about. When I am in the room with an individual or couple I hope they feel comfortable with my presence, I encourage them to be as raw and authentic as possible, so that I may be able to capture the pure intimacy of the person. I work closely with my subjects with the intent of preserving all the details of their expressions, abstracting their bodies so that it is an object of both familiarity and sensuality.
Tryst Red is a photography and art history student studying at Wayne State University in Michigan. She has been photographing both in analog and digitally for over 5 years, with an emphasis in studio lighting and formal portraiture. In 2018, Tryst presented her series Affinity & Twain at the Whitdel Arts gallery in Detroit, MI. In 2019, Tryst received a scholarship for her series, The Female Gaze, otherwise known as, Feminine Masculinity, which focuses on the destigmatization of socially constructed gender norms.
