A small group of white nationalists, lead by local right wing nut job Roger Ogden, are coming to Chicano Park on Sunday at 1pm. They plan on creating a campaign to remove Chicano Park. Come out and show them we will not be moved......

I by chance met up with some members of the community and spoke about these happenings some weren't afraid others including myself were nervous.

This place is one where you can ask what it means to be a Chicano and learn just by walking under a bridge and seeing its murals. Understanding who we are and sharing that with the rest of the world. It's a place of acceptance and sharing culture. I was raised in Connecticut having to learn solely from my parents words about my identity. Here in San Diego, where I was born I have a strong community of artists, dancers, muralists, photographers, musicians, historians, and activists who resist to maintain their identity and help each other, learn, grow and understand who we are.

THIS IS CHICANO PARK. We bring this to the rest of the world where we can have jewish people at car shows eating Taco's with us, and beautiful black babies embracing the life, strife and art of Frida Kahlo. It's a place of honoring our roots and marrying them to the now. This is my heart and to even threaten to take it from us causes me deep anxiety.
