About Myself + My Photography:
I studied photography + fine arts at Watkins Art Institute in Nashville TN., and spent 13 years as a photographer and musician in Chicago IL. My passion for photography and nature, lead me back to my my hometown of Jackson MI, where my family and I happily reside. I subscribe to a style of portrait photography, sometimes referred to as “California Style”, relying on
nature’s light and landscape, rather than strobes and backdrops. I prefer this style because to me, there is nothing quite like the natural light and fresh air of the outdoors. Photography is a documentation of life, and all that is important to you. Families, individuals, babies, the principles are all the same. I believe we are best documented in a setting that is real. And what makes the Midwest special to me, as a photographer, is it’s everchanging seasons. I shoot outdoor portraits all year round; spring, summer, fall, and yes… winter too! PRIOR TO THE SHOOT...
WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR? I personally like pastels, blues, reds, tans. I recommend avoid wearing clothing with writings/logos and too much texture – basically anything that is too distracting. For family photos - wear something that matches your personality but is not too matchy-matchy with the rest of the family. COLORS TO WEAR TO ENHANCE YOUR EYE COLOR:

BABIES / TODDLERS:
Please try to have your little ones well rested and fed prior to the photo session. Clean ears, wipe face (particularly the nose). Feel free to bring along their favorite blanket, toy, doll, etc. While I may not be able to duplicate a particular photo that you found on-line, it still helps as a photographer to get a feel of what types of moods, and poses the client likes. If possible, do some portrait searches, and email me any particular photos you like, to [email protected]
