So I'm including you in on a journey here. I'm trying to figure out what people need. What they need, what they want in regards to their creativity, dreams, what they want to DO with their lives. And how I can help them with that. Right here.
So I'm gonna ask myself. Camilla. If you could follow someone on social media who could help you out with your creativity, what would that look like?
Well, Camilla, it's a good question. I really love following success stories. I like Ken Robinson because he shares stories about people starting from nothing, but rising to 'success' as they follow their inner voice, find a community, and MAKE STUFF.
I also like it when people teach me something valuable. I follow photographers who tell me what lens they're using, or who give me tips on helping a couple be themselves in a shoot.
And I like to feel encouraged.
So this is a long post, but let me do those things.
Here's a story. There's a little girl. She does terrible in school, can't pay attention, if she was a little girl today we'd say she had ADHD. Her school tells her mother the equivalent of "Hey. This girl can't focus. She needs a special school to deal with her special problems." The concerned mother takes her to a doctor, who notices she's fidgeting a ton, turns on the radio and says something like "I'm gonna talk to your mom, hang tight." He leaves the room, and when he does, the girl gets up and dances to the radio. She's dancing all over the place. The doctor and mother watch, the doctor says, "You know Mrs. Lynne, Gillian isn't sick. She's a dancer. Take her to a dance school." So her parents take her to dance school.
Boom. Turns out this is Gillian Lynne who has a wildly successful career as a dancer, and goes on to choreograph Phantom of the Opera and Cats and all that good stuff.
And you know what, this relates to my tip. And it's not just for photographers. The tip is to just listen. I do this thing now where I sit down with whoever I photograph and I have a conversation with them. I listen. I let them tell me who they are, what they like, what they don't like, and what they want. And then we create something together.
You can do it. Whatever it is you're thinking. Do it. Unless it's murder or something stupid like that.
Share thoughts ask questions, whatever!
