I didn’t take a break. I disappeared for a minute because life got loud, expensive, and honestly… hard.
I had planned to stay where I was until September or October. Then the owner unexpectedly needed to return to Chicago, and I had three weeks to find a new home in the middle of Chicago’s busiest moving season.
With almost nothing available, a tight timeline, and systems that do not always recognize freelance income, I went into survival mode.
So I did what a lot of people do when life requires every ounce of energy somewhere else.
I got quiet.
I stopped posting.
I told myself I would come back when things felt more settled.
But “settled” is not always available on demand.
I’m learning, at 56, to ask for help and accept it. To let people know when things are not polished. To keep showing up, even when the version of showing up looks different than I planned.
Fuzzy and I are back in River North, on the 20th floor, watching summer storms roll in.
And Fuzzy Face Media is back, too.
There is more behind this than I’m ready to put on social media. I’ll share a little more with my email subscribers later this week.
This week on Instagram, I’m sharing what’s ahead: new content, familiar favorites, and the work I’m building from a much more honest place.
Thank you for being here.
Have you ever gone quiet because life required all of your energy somewhere else?
