My Top 10 Lessons After 15 Years in Media 🎬

1. Be a founder and CEO, not just a videographer. The mindset shift is what lets you actually get to the creative work you want to do.

2. You don't need more gear. You need to master composition and lighting. Buying equipment you don't know how to use won't move you forward.

3. Build a team. Staying a solo videographer caps you. Collaboration is how you level up and charge more.

4. Charge more. What we do is needed. Underpricing keeps you from serving clients at your highest level.

5. Become known for something. Don't try to do everything. Specialize so people think of you first for the right job.

6. Build a brand. It carries your culture and does marketing for you, so your name opens doors before you even show up.

7. Network relentlessly. Talking to people and building real communication skills opens opportunities nothing else will.

8. Invest in yourself. Conferences, better gear, an accountant. Investing in you is investing in the business.

9. You're not a cameraman. Streaming and content culture has cheapened how people see this work. Operate as a filmmaker and a production company, and you command real respect and real value.

10. Stay creative. Don't let the chase for clients and money crowd out passion projects. Keep pushing the boundaries of your own work.

The best way to get better is to keep going back to the fundamentals.
