Happy Heavenly Birthday to my little sister. Kaylyn Nicole

My avatar would have been 31 today. Thirty one. It is hard to even say that out loud. Not a day goes by that she is not missed. Not a day goes by that we do not wonder what she would be doing right now. I already know one thing for sure. She would definitely be watching my kids. Loving them. Protecting them. Reminding them who they are.

Grief does not go away. It simply changes shape. Some days it feels heavy. Some days it is quiet. But today we choose to let love be louder than the loss.

We are using this birthday to do good!

I am proud to share that we are in the process of launching The Kay Way Foundation. It is deeply personal and incredibly bittersweet. She would be proud of this organization. She would be proud of the people coming together to bring it to life. And she would be proud that her name will continue to stand for something meaningful.

Happy 31st in Heaven.
We love you. We miss you. And we will continue building something beautiful in your name. 💚💚💚

It might be the Capricorn in me always striving for greatness but a new chapter is officially beginning. I’m setting my camera down and stepping away from the wedding industry. Years ago I set one simple goal to be published and along the way I exceeded every dream I had. I built a brand, photographed weddings around the world, formed lifelong friendships with clients and colleagues, and was able to use my work to help others in real and meaningful ways. I am deeply grateful for every moment and every lesson.

Now I feel called to step into something bigger. With the state of the world today, my motivation has shifted toward helping others more directly and building things that create impact beyond myself. I’m incredibly thankful to be in a position where I can pivot careers while honoring everything that brought me here. You can explore a few of my current ventures in my bio and I have two more on the way that are especially close to my heart.

More announcements are coming soon but for now I’m simply filled with gratitude and excitement. I hope this season inspires others to chase growth, trust change, and continue doing good in our communities.

New York, you always treat me so well! Thanks for all of the birthday love!

It all starts with you choosing to be the change for good, no matter how small it may seem.

We are living in a time where so much of the world feels driven by rage and division. We reached out to many community based organizations trying to make something simple happen: giving free food to people who needed it. Food we paid for, prepped, and cooked with intention. Too often, the answer was no, or it came with conditions and incentives that did not align with why we started.

Growing up in Englewood, I know how hard it can be. We were lucky enough to connect with Scott, who is also from the area, and together we just did it. No red tape. No agendas. We posted up on 63rd and Halsted and welcomed anyone who needed a meal. From 5pm to 7pm on Christmas Eve, we served with love.

Seeing big groups of kids being fed, some telling us it was their first meal of the day, filled my heart in a way words cannot fully explain. Helping kids will always be my soft spot.

This is just the beginning. We are committed to doing this more often, because real change does not wait for permission. We are the change. If you would like to donate or help at our next giveaway, please contact me.

Happy birthday to me 🎉

I’m 39, and this one feels special. I gave myself the best gift yet by signing my last kiddo up for school. All four kids will be in school now, which means time for a much needed reset and space to pour back into myself.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I get to celebrate in NYC with some very special friends. New memories, new energy, and a whole new chapter ahead.

So grateful and truly looking forward to everything this year has in store. Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes 💛

Wrapped in the soft glow of the season, I’m reminded how peaceful it feels to slow down and enjoy the simple things. A cup of hot chocolate, a warm fireplace, and the quiet sound of snow falling in Chicago… that’s my kind of winter magic.

As the city settles into its snowy evenings, I’m opening a limited number of private studio sessions designed for families, couples, creatives, and anyone who wants portraits that feel warm, elegant, and timeless.

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to capture this season’s cozy beauty, consider this your invitation.

Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years. After much thought and a little time away, I’m stepping back into the photography world. It’s only been a few months since I decided to stay home with my little ones, but I’ve realized how much I miss it. I miss the laughter, the love stories, and the families who’ve grown in front of my camera year after year.

Finding balance as a mom of four and a business owner hasn’t been easy, but it’s shaping me into the best version of myself. While I won’t be reopening a full calendar, I’ll be taking on a handful of weddings and family sessions each year, enough to stay close to what I love while still being present for my kids.

Here’s to rediscovering the joy of my craft, cherishing the chaos, and doing what I love with all my heart!

I want to take this time to sincerely thank everyone who attended our memorial for Kaylyn. Your presence meant so much to our family.

To Kaylyn’s friends whom I gently put on the spot to speak, thank you. Hearing your memories and seeing those moments of release and reflection was truly powerful. Your words helped us all heal a little more.

A special thank you to our speakers for sharing such meaningful messages about community, love, and the importance of standing together to end gun violence. Your voices continue Kaylyn’s legacy of light and purpose.

Thank you to Sarah for the beautiful performance of Kaylyn’s song. It touched every heart in the room. And to all who sent messages because you couldn’t attend, please know that your kindness and support were deeply felt and appreciated.

The past ten years without Kaylyn have left a tremendous void in our lives. In her memory, my mom Royce turned her grief into action, becoming an advocate, traveling, speaking, and meeting with incredible people like Steve Harvey and Spike Lee to raise awareness and inspire change. Her dream was to create a foundation in Kaylyn’s honor, one that would be a light in the community and help others find their own.

I am proud to continue what she began. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about the next steps for The Kay Way Foundation, and I truly hope to have your continued support.

We could not have made it through this journey without the love, compassion, and strength you’ve all given us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

The Kay Way Foundation will shine.

When you have a big family but no one wants to do family costumes… force the baby to be a sandworm. Grateful to be in a position to host Halloween parties. Not a party without kpop demon hunters though. Or hocus pocus. Next year will be epic.
